And there goes my money into the god-forsaken Canadian economy.

If I pay pal'd instead of Kickstarter would I get the pre-alpha now?

I went Pirate. Too good not to spend 10 extra bucks.

Would have gone Merc but that was too rich for my pocket.

I paypal'd and don't have it, it says on the site that you'll get it after the kickstarter.  All you get now is a placeholder text file and a license key.

Just 2D. TS doesnt think they would add to much to experience. Its in the FAQ.

Well, I'd argue that they do, but thanks. Doesn't make me want to buy it less.

Hi Tynan, I have some questions
Do you have an scheduled release date for the beta version?
The game will have a particular end, it will be open-ended or losing is fun?
It will be a persistent world?

Thanks for this game, I can't wait until the end Kickstarter to play  ;)

Excuse my english

Tynan, practically every preview video I've seen on youtube has has a bunch of people asking for a Let's Play in the comments. Good news for everyone.

Goons are pretty excited about this project still. A LOT of people appreciating greatly that you are avoiding the trap of Stretch Goals and making sure it doesn't spiral out of control. I still need to wait till closer to the end of the campaign sadly since my money situation is tight (damn halloween parties..)

I wouldn't say that they don't add much. More that the ratio between what they add and the cost of putting them in isn't as good as many other features which I've put ahead of Z-levels in the work queue.

Nothing is scheduled beyond the January public Alpha.

I may put in an endgame, but it'll be an optional goal. Losing is fun!

No persistent world.

Thanks man!

An interesting idea would be:
The survivors should explore to discover the remains of the spacecraft scattered across the surface of the planet, assemble with the help of engineers and manufacture the missing parts of the ship and the fuel needed to launch back into space, this within an amount of time determined by the chosen difficulty  ;)

If there were Z-Levels, I'd rather they allowed play without constantly moving the "viewport" up and down, at least surface-wise. Maybe just show it like a heightmap with different shades.

What they "add" to the game is subjective, since they also worsen the user interaface quite a bit.

It would be far easier to visualize than DF if the stuff below the current level showed, but a shade darker. Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVhsIGGg3QE

Not nearly as many as in DF, just maybe one upwards and one downwards.
