Excellent. Like the others, I will be quite happy to try out your demo when it is released.

It sure looks interesting.

What is the setting (if there is one yet) other than crashing pods ?
Are the graphics final (or subject to change) ?

-You can take people prisoner and recruit them. This is the main way you grow the colony
So, it's a Stockholm syndrom simulator ?

Graphics are very much subject to change. I'm seeking an artist.

The setting is designed to support the gameplay. It's not really in the game that strongly, but I've got an idea of what it is.

Basically, imagine a far-future universe where travel is always slower than light and planets regress technologically as often as they progress. In this world, there are widely varying technologies, from the stone age to futuristically magical. And since nothing goes faster than light, different start systems can't communicate except with years-long delays. You might take a ship to Alpha Centauri and arrive just a few months later (in your frame of reference, years in theirs due to time dilation) to discover they've blown themselves into the stone age. And Centauri is really close by.

This is how we mix technologies of different eras in one universe.

Animals and people are often the descendants of populations engineered for some purpose by long-forgotten star empires. So they're quite diverse.

There's more to it; I should put up a page on the Net sometime to explain it.

Well i do hope it doesnt end up as vaporware because thats a nice mix you got there, art and style is very Prison Architect, just hope that wont cause problem for that matter.

I wish you good luck and welcome aboard the crazy dwarf bandwagon. But at one point, you will need to include madma in the game :).

that was a luky dwarf. I had one dabbling surgeon fail so spectacularly that the patient skull flew a tile away from the table.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Been reading a lot of Olaf Stapeldton lately and I have to say, I absolutely LOVE the idea of planets progressing and regressing technologically. Will we be able to genetically engineer life forms for different environments, or will we be restricted to colonizing planets that are habitable to humans? Also, will there be terraforming?

Never heard of Olaf, I'll have to look him up!

As for you other questions, you're only three crash survivors, so terraforming is mostly out of the question. Genetic engineering might be something to put in (in fact, something really interesting, if you can, say, engineer your own guard animals or livestock), but that would be something high up the tech tree.

Currently you get no choice of where you colonize (you are crashing, after all). The game used to have an air system where people couldn't survive outside pressurized interiors. I cut it but could bring it back to simulate unbreathable planets for an especially brutally difficult game.

Terraforming, not planned. That's beyond the scale of what a few tens of people can accomplish. The default planet is already terraformed anyways.

I hope you'll keep watching, it should be reasonably soon. Part of the reason I released this video at all was to gauge interest and help tune a possible Kickstarter.

The engine is actually something I made for a tactical JA2-style game last year, so it's got all sorts of super-nuanced calculations with leaning around cover, hit percentages, and so on. I hope it'll integrate in as a real tactical engine. I get bored of just throwing recruits (or axelords) at enemies.

I actually would think an air system would be interesting if your pod type things would contain a small atmosphere pod bubble thing so that you can get your main base pressurized and oxygenated.

Looks cool. As Iceblaster said, an atmos system would be amazing but difficult to both implement and avoid cpu-crushing lag.
