"I don't mean to cause offense sir, but I suppose you don't have much in the way of fine clothing? If you do not i'll provide some clothes for you without trouble, it just might be easier to deal with merchants that way understand?"

Bepher grimaces, "yes, yes of course my prince. Truth be told I was lowborn barely a year ago. You think a knighthood would have done me good, but since then I havn't been able to get steady work. Merchants arn't eager to hire a captain they need to pay more just to captain a ship, and noble's arn't to eager to hand a ship over to someone they swore was common last time they set eyes on Em."

"Well, none of that should be a problem any more. Also, if possible I want to get the crew in fit condition for anything. It doesn't have to be right away, but i'm willing to let you do as you see fit to get the crew disciplined. Take routes longer than neccecary, running combat drills, punishing crew or setting them loose at the nearest port, whatever you have to do." you lean in close " if all goes well, i'll set enchanter to work, after which i'm hoping that we might be fit for operation in Keshlan waters."

Rai snaps his attention quite fully onto you. "What exactly do you mean?"

You grin "I don't plan on having your ship take on Keshlan galleys and sea mages if that is what you mean, but we might be able to lend aid to those still trying to reclaim what belongs to them, you included I suppose."

Rai seems to mull this over, brow furrowed in concentration.

"Rai i wound't put your lives in danger...unless i had a way to get you out. Besides i intend to keep this vessel away from combat and more into strategic purposes. Understand?"

If all's done have the Captain send his measurements to you sometime next month and inform him you'll get him something nice. Give both a hug before you leave each other.

Extremely inappropriate to hug someone that we barely even know so -1.

Next month is too long to wait. Give him some coin and recommend a good tailor, and tell him to get right on that.

They are not going on the same trip as us. We might as well send them off at once.

Some conversation is made to the effect of arranging low pressure trading runs, mostly to train the crew and provide opportunities for Bepher to meet the merchants he'll most often be trading regularly with. You tell Bepher that you'll have some coin sent to him in order to buy proper clothes and personal toiletries, for the purposes of appearance.
Lunch is soon over, and you dismiss both Bepher and Rai.

Your audience with the King is virtually upon you. Now is a good oppurtunity to make any last minute arrangements of relevance to the meeting, and decide ahead of time what exactly you plan on talking with your father about.

1. Tell him about the letter we got from Uncle

2. Tell him we can escort Ritalia and Penrod to the border of Analysse and Adalbert.

3. Try to get some baron titles for our Keshlian Allies.

4. Add more?

Ask why a filthy concubince is sitting on the throne...but maybe that would be too much.

Nah i think we should just make sure we look especially nice when we go in to meet. pay attention to his concubine during the conversation. See what her expressions are.

Number one worries me. I can't think of to many reasons why our uncle would want to meet us alone in his castle that don't involve us being used as a hostage or made into a traitor. We have enough on our plate without getting involved in a powerplay by the king's brother. Use this as an opportunity to bring up the issue of Erik. Simply state that your first loyalty is to him and the country, and that although you want the crown someday he doesn't have to worry about you doing anything silly should he decide to give it to Erik or your Uncle.

I'm sure he knows about our plans to lead the escort by now. No need to mention it.

Be careful with asking for the baron titles. Tell your dad you plan to secure trade with Keshlia, and if all goes well the only direct support you'll need from the crown is the distribution of a few titles. Do not bring up the subject if your father seems to be in a foul mood. (Don't forget to pick up the list of people to Baronize from Sekhon before meeting dad)

I'd add that we should thank our father for leaving the matter of our betrothal up to us, and tell him that we will be seriously pursuing the issue after the wedding. Tell him we still value his advice on the matter however, and tell him about our prospects so far. (Except Sekhon's daughter. It would come across as if we were trying to make the dude a noble so we could marry his daughter) Ask him what he knows of each of the girl's respective fathers. Also ask what he knows about Erik's betrothal plans, as there is a fair chance he is in contention for some of the same girls you are, and you'd rather not have to but heads over the matter.

Finally mention that you have commissioned a fabulous gift for the wedding, but the metal smith you chose is working slow, and you fear your gift may not be ready in time. Ask if he would be so kind as to set one of the many gifts he will likely be giving aside for you to deliver if your own present isn't available.

I'm assuming we have a private audience, but yeah, if the concubine is there pay attention to her and don't mention anything about Erik.

I agree i don't want to tear the country apart with a power struggle from the king and our uncle. Likewise i don't want a power struggle with Erin. If one does happen {and civil war breaks out} then allian lords {penrods other princes} would want to attack us.

You mentally prepare to meet with your father. He may be family, but he's still the king, and a private meeting with a King is nerve wracking. You strap on the dagger he gave you on his whim, and dress in practical if fine clothes. He's not the kind of person who is impressed by wealth, particularly being surrounded by it all the time.

Soon, his servants usher you into his chambers. He's writing letters, probably making the last of the wedding arrangements, and you take a seat beside him. "Ah, yes, Raynor, I had nearly forgotten we were to speak." he puts quill and ink aside. "So, boy, what was it you wanted to talk about?"

"There were a few things actually, if you would indulge me." you remove Robilard's letter from your pocket."This is the last of several letters Robilard has sent me, all inviting me to speak with him privately, in his home." you lay the letter on the table. "He hasn't said what he wants to talk about, but it seems delicate."

Your father doesn't bother reading it, but his brow furrows in thought. "Well that seems suspicious, certainly." he scratches absently at his beard. "Well, that doesn't implicate him in anything, and his intentions could certainly be innocent, personally i've always found my brother too clever for his own good. I'll keep an ear open to anything suspicious, thank you for coming to me with this. I'll certainly be grateful if you come to me with more information."he let's out a deep sigh. "I hope this doesn't have anything to do with Penrod's arrival, those two have... never liked eachother."

Inside you feel elated at the rare parental approval. "Of course father, I want to assure you that I have the best interests of Analysse and the crown at heart, I will not let anything put the future of the kingdom in jeopardy. Speaking of which, i'm sure you are aware that I am strengthening ties with what remains of the Keshlan nobility, and am doing what I can to put them back in power, i'm sure you can see why that would be in our best interests, and must ask for a small solitary favor from you as king." you remove another document from your pocket. "Here are the names of seven influential Keshlan merchants who are doing quite a bit in order to raise forces that might aid Keshlan imperials, however their authority as lowborn men is highly limited, and so I ask you to grant them Baronet titles as if they had purchased them from the crown. They won't need any land, and their service can serve as token Annalysian military support without our navy having to lift so much as a finger. Not to mention that we will have more allies in whatever government the imperials manage to cobble together."

The King frowns deeply and stares at you for what feels like several minutes. "Or perhaps you are the one who is too clever for his own good." he sighs deeply, "very well, it's not like this favor is going to take much effort on my part. Oh, I would like to say. I know you're forming something of an unnoficial escort for Penrod, and that's all well and good, but I urge caution, Penrod is another of you clever ones, and he can be quite tricky."

We have made a lot of people silent during our RP sessions. I think a lot of our older allies think we are stupid due to our young age we should start using this to our advantage.

_______

Also, ask what happened between our Father and Mother

Anyways, let do the rest of Weirdsound suggestion

Tell him we still value his advice on the matter however, and tell him about our prospects so far. (Except Sekhon's daughter. It would come across as if we were trying to make the dude a noble so we could marry his daughter) Ask him what he knows of each of the girl's respective fathers. I'd just talk the marriage prospects for now. No need to press our luck with favors. I'm sure we can buy something off the guild.

I'm more intresting in learning about what happened with our brother. See if he is willing to talk now that we are a bit older.

I can't see asking about our mother ending well. If we want that story, we should go to her.
