I don't remember Sergei doing any drilling. He set about building things first. And shouldn't Kwaa'na's avians have +5 to morale?

There is definitively a post lenght limit. I remember DEMONHOOD reaching it. It's something like 50k however, so you're nowhere near it.

I'll be thinking about what my elves need to do and post it later.

@techno65535
I guess that's pretty badly written. I was referencing how Sergei's first move on showing up to camp was "run patrols".
"Drilling" is meant for Mammoth Charge, as in his troops were set to practice.
Noted on Kwaa's Morale.

@All
I'll have the proper combat thingies done by tonight. And then we can flail about.

Hmmmm...I'll be considering how much more in depth to go with orders, then. My carpenters can probably process our lumber pretty quickly and easily, and then I'd ask for someone to help me build a brewery. It'll help make sure what we're drinking is clean, and besides, you'll get first pick of our brews. :D

armor makers or whatever they are called make: leather leggings
everyone else dig a deep trench with upwards facing spikes in it away from the camp, several smaller pits in and around the forest with and a few ladders

Battle Map 1

Some key things to note:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

===========================
Recruitment is open, the actual combat briefing (containing the enemy count) will be on Monday evening.

For simplicity's sake, a player may deploy up to 5 squads.
A player can deploy to One starting zone.
Each squad must have a class. (see below)
Each squad should have a name (will default to Player's Squad A, Squad B, etc.)
Each squad should have a general task (attack nearest enemy, cover nearest friendly, etc)
Each squad should have a staff priority (the highest gets filled with professionals first). (default to even spread)
 For priority: clarify what is the highest priority; By default I consider 1 to be highest.

The submissions made prior to this should be reevaluated, otherwise I'm gonna get something wrong.

For the purposes of this exercise all squads are considered to be fully equipped as they are able, according to class.

Is Heavy or Light better for charges?

the best strategy would probably be waiting for heavies to get kind of close to the enemies then charging with your scouts

@Elephant Parade
Depends.

Avian DFA would be better with heavy, but it leaves them really open after the charge, and takes longer to set up (takes them longer to fly up to the same distance)

Light Avians don't have the same problem, but their DFA doesn't hit as hard, and if it botches you're walking away with far less men than you started with.

@ICBM pilot
More or less. Your heavies hold the line and your lights go around the sides and be useful.

I think I'll have heavy melee troops and light archers.

Rolling Kegs
Medium Axe Squad
Staff Priority 1
General Order: Charge nearest enemies, preferably from direction other than head-on, prioritizing bow, axe, or unarmed units.

Hidden Brambles
Light Lance Squad
Staff Priority 2
General Order: Charge enemy from direction other than head on. Retreat afterwards, then charge again.

Mocking Ravens
Light Bow Squad
Staff Priority 2
General Order: Skirmish; Shoot enemies, retreat if they get close. Try to keep them from backing you into a corner.

Unbridged Fords
Heavy Spear Squad
Staff Priority 1
General Order: Protect nearby units from enemy charges, then allow friendly unit to charge/do whatever it does. Unless it's also a heavy. Then they can do whatever.

Serrated Knives
Medium Sword Squad
Staff Priority 3
General Order: Charge nearest enemy unit, prioritizing lance, spear, or sword users, preferably from direction other than head on.

@Rolepgeek
Pick a starting location (A, B, or C). This is for all of your units. If you don't you'll just default to A, so no biggie. -shrug-

I'll take C.

Edit: I have a theory. I believe that all races apply a penalty to one other race's morale, and apply a bonus to their own. I'm guessing it's cyclical, but I could be wrong.

? -> Avians -> Nekos -> Goblins -> Humans -> Dwarves? -> Elves -> Half-Elves -> ?

It could have unexpected breaks. Maybe nothing intimidates Avians, or humans don't scare anyone.

I am surprised no one has chosen dwarves yet though.

@Rolepgeek
Aiight.

Because you have no professionals in your party, all your squads are militia.
Squad sizes:
Rolling Kegs and Unbridged Fords are 7 people each.
Hidden Brambles and Mocking Ravens are 6 people each.
and Serrated Knives is a group of 4.
If you want to move some people now's the time.

#Edit
Your theory would be wrong. :D I'm just being totally arbitrary about intimidation n' comfort.
It's very reliant on adaptation (eventually our Neko penalty will disappear).
If our Nekos see the Avians go batshit insane and murder a village of children there would be an Intimidation penalty.
Overall it's situational and totally prone to bullshittism. :3
And yeah, I'm surprised too, but then this is a DF forum, so...
