Day Two
You reassign the roles, changing Alexander to a waiter and Minerva as an informant. You decide to ask Minerva about the wedding, and of the man she is to be wed to.
"Well, we were going to do it in the old chapel, but the Cleric there has gone missing. He's probably on a mission or out in the woods meditating, but it's been a little too long. The man I'm marrying is called Aubry Walbeck, a Hero Trainer. He's a fine man, nice and strong. His family is arranging the wedding, but it's custom here for the bride's parents to pay for the vanity expenses, like balloons, the cake, and such.
Since Pappy passed away, it seems like we'll have to do it ourselves. You're in charge of the wedding, so you decide on what you want to buy. I'd be fine with anything, but I'd really like a cake! Cheesecake is my favorite!"
You make a mental note. You then leave outside to meet with your neighbors. The door creaks as you open it, and a gentle breeze blows in, bathing you in a mild sensation of calm and tranquility. You walk along the paved road, which makes you wonder how a small town like this could afford a road system like this. You reach the first house, a small cottage with a straw-thatched roof. You knock on the wooden door, and a young man with curly blonde hair opens the door.
"Oh, hello. Can I help you?"
"Um, yes. I recently moved here, and I wanted to get to know my neighbors."
"Oh, okay then. Please, come in! I'll have Mother make some tea."
You step into the old cottage, the smell of home-cured meats and the sound of a kettle boiling makes you appreciate the country life you abandoned for the city. You take a seat on a lumpy couch, and the man comes back with a plate of crumpets and a kettle. He pours a cup for you and sits on an armchair opposite of you.
"The name's Wilhelm. Nice to meet you, sir."
"And you, Wilhelm. My name's Terra. Thank you for letting me in."
"No problem at all. So, where are you working at in old Hoo?"
"At the Tree Meld, I run things there now."
"Oh? Old Kris' inn?" His eyes open wider. "You're his son! Terra?"
"That's right."
Wilhelm calls out for his mother, and an elderly woman with a kind face but an attitude that screamed "no fooling around" appears from the kitchen door. Her eyes open and she gives a warm smile.
"Terra? My, my you've grown, sonny."
You struggle to recall who she is. The city's caused you to meet new faces everyday, pushing the old faces out of your mind.
"It's me, Mrs. Horschad. You used to spend your days playing in the fields out in the yard with your brothers, but that was before Wilhelm was born, so you two probably haven't met face to face."
You smile as your old memories flood back. The peaceful summer days where you rolled in the fields with Ulysses and Hercules and threw mud at Alexander. He's been always considered the runt of the litter by Father, and behaved so. You continue eating, and when you've finished, you thank Mrs. Hroschad for the meal and bid them farewell. You rush back as you realize that it's almost opening time. You burst through the door, where you see Artemis on the ground bleeding with Minerva screaming above her and the boys helping her off the floor.
