We're a 3rd of the way through with three solid contenders having emerged. Let's spice things up! If you're new to the game or returning after not playing for a while, you can create a character as per the rules below (or bring back an old one), with the added bonus of one extra starter pokéfusion and a Master Ball. Can you beat the established Honoku trainers?

You are a crack squad of pokémon trainers, sent by Professor Fir to the mysterious island of Honoku to bring back the pokémon found there.

This is a roll to dodge game about catching bizarre pokémon creations. Anyone can jump in and create a character at any time. You get to make a starting pokéfused pokémon and you get to start catching pokémon. The game ends when the players have collectively banked all 151 pokémon (or all active players have lost all their pokémon). There'll be a ranking of who banked the most pokémon.

Type affinity: Pokémon of this type have +2 effective happiness when they're with you. The available types are (Normal, Poison, Ground, Rock, Bug, Ghost, Dragon, Flying, Fire, Psychic, Ice, Fighting, Water, Grass, Electric).
Favoured foe: Your pokémon get +1 (after other modifiers are applied) against a type of your choosing. The available types are (Normal, Poison, Ground, Rock, Bug, Ghost, Dragon, Flying, Fire, Psychic, Ice, Fighting, Water, Grass, Electric).
Hyper-aggressive: your pokémon get +1 to attack rolls, but effective -1 happiness when they're with you.
Experienced: You've picked up a few badges so pokémon need -5 happiness before they'll run away.
Loyal: Your starter pokémon will never run away from you (so long as you don't defuse or trade it).
Cautious: +2 to flee attempts.

Honoku Wilds —  Wild pokémon can be found here. Say Enter Wilds or something like that to fight a random pokémon. Unbeaten or escaped pokémon have an even chance of being found instead of a new pokémon.
Pokécentre This is where you end up if you lose a fight.
Mutation Centre — Here you can split up a fused pokémon into it's separate forms, fuse two unfused pokémon or switch the primary/secondary pokémon in a fusion. You have to have free slots available for defusing.
Bank — Permanently deposit unfused pokémon here. This increases your ranking, but removes the pokémon permanently.

Fused Pokémon
Pokéfusions are formed of a primary and secondary pokémon. Take Parabat:



Parabat is formed of a primary Parasect and a secondary Zubat. (The first pokémon in the fusion is always the primary pokémon.) A pokéfusion takes its attack types from its primary form and its defence types from its secondary form. The weaknesses/strengths of different types are as per the (admittedly unbalanced) Gen 1 rules.

A Parabat will have different attack and defence powers to a Zusect, so it's important you decide which pokémon is the primary and which the secondary when creating fusions.

• To fight a pokémon, you need to go to the wilds with a pokémon to attack with.
  
• Fights are all resolved in one attack roll, with type modifiers added before other bonuses.
  
• You can elect to have the defending pokémon attack first instead, in which case the attack numbering is reversed for results and the other pokémon gets a +1 to attack.
• If you describe your attack in a cool way (think Ash's Pikachu-style crazy stunts) you can get a +1 bonus to your roll.
  
• You can bank a defused pokémon at any point when you're not fighting.
• Banked pokémon will no longer appear in random fusions in the wild.
• Escaped or unbeaten pokémon prevent new fusions from appearing in the wild that share the same pokémon. (i.e. if a Ponyking escapes, no random fusions containing either Ponyta or Seaking will appear until the Ponyking is KO'd or caught.
• No ranking points are gained for banking Pokémon that have already been banked.
• If your pokémon is KO'd, you go back to the Pokécenter regardless of how many other pokémon you have.
  
• You only have 6 slots for pokémon, so be careful: excess pokémon caught will be defused and banked.
  
• You can trade pokémon, and attempt other stuff that I haven't covered here.
  
• Fused pokémon take the average of the happiness of their constituent parts, rounded down.
  
• You can't fuse the same pokémon (i.e. chansey/chansey).
• You can only play once: if you're out of pokémon, it's game over for you.

I'll resolve the rolls as per usual in an RTD. We'll be using a 6-sided dice. Type attack/defence modifiers are applied before other modifiers.

Attack Roll
1-: Abject failure: your losing pokémon loses 2 happiness
2: Regular failure: your pokémon loses 1 happiness
3: Draw: you don't lose, but the other pokémon escapes
4: You beat the Pokémon (+1 happiness) but fail to catch it before it's KO'd
5: You catch the Pokémon! +1 happiness
6+: You catch the Pokémon super effectively! +1 happiness to both your pokémon and the one caught

Flee Roll
1-3, you flee; 4-6 you stay and the battle is resolved with the other pokémon attack first with a +1 to their attack roll.

Every pokémon has a starting happiness of 0. If you get down to -3 happiness, your pokémon will desert you and enter the wild where it has a chance of being caught by anyone. If you get up to +5 happiness, your pokémon will evolve!

You can trade pokémon, and attempt other stuff that I haven't covered here.

Trainers can battle one another, either by arrangement or ambush. In such cases, their pokémon fight one another. Both trainers describe their attack (either openly or in PM) and the pokémon act simultaneously. If there are more than one pokémon involved in a battle, trainers have to declare which of their pokémon is attacking which other pokémon and these attacks are rolled separately.

Whoever gets the highest roll (after modifiers are taken into account) is victorious. In multi-pokémon battles, the separate rolls are added up.

All the opponents other pokémon in a battle must be attacked (so no ganging up). There must be even numbers of pokémon on both sides of a battle (excess pokémon won't be counted— they like to play fair even if trainers don't).

In a pitched battle, and outcome of a win or loss is decided amicably by the trainers before hand. In an ambush, the victorious trainer has time to steal one pokémon before getting away. They needn't steal anything, and indeed may decide not to. Deep-grained taboos against leaving people defenceless mean you can never steal a player's last pokémon.

If attack decisions aren't sent in within 36 hours, they'll be automatically decided. Fleeing is possible in a trainer battle.

Stolen loyal pokémon maintain their old loyalties. Pokétrainers have to be found to be ambushed, which requires a successful finding roll.

Blue plummeted from the clean sky in a dive, activating his parachute at a safe distance from the hard ground. The wide jungles of Honoku stretched under him, as he floated slowly down, guiding himself to a clearing.

He frowned, watching the Fearow-mounted cameraman flying some distance away.

Yes, he supposed the camera's would never stop filming, in case they missed his horrible doom.

...

He crouched down, inspecting some of the strange flora.

"...So, the plants are fused too..." He said to himself, picking at a strange berry and placing it in a storage container-purely for science. The reason he was here, was that if he was smart and lucky, he'd get enough catches to win the reality tv show he was currently on-'You have to catch all of them! -Season 2/Frantic Fusion Frenzy!'-he wasn't sure if any of the other competitors were on the island, but knew they were jetting all around the world-they had to catch all of them to win, of course.

The prize was enough pokedollars to buy ten masterballs...

Given Blue's skills, he thought it would be best to hunt down some water-pokemon to start. He whistled for Zuish, who bopped obediently alongside him. For now.

Action: Start looking for a source of water...

Gardener Blue strides boldly off into the wilds, marvelling at the strange and wondrous plants surrounding him. Though he was looking for water (rolled a 2!), he was distracted by  a curious cross between a poppy flower and a rubber tree. Zuish squeals as suddenly, out of the brush, sidles a WILD RHYNX!




Meanwhile, more trainers arrive on the beach— part of contingent from the fire gym on the nearby island, Kyra Pyre. Idling past her is the dangerously pale psychic, Marvin, looking to make a name for himself, and Bug Catcher Marceline with her giant net. Following them all at a distance, with a sly look in her eye is Team Rocket Clair looking to bank the most pokémon for her villainous organization.
