Tacey turned her horse southward, giving the band of buggered behind her a moment's rearward look.  They didn't particularly look like mercenaries, particularly when she saw what looked like a monk moving forward in the trees and...some sort of performer in bright pink?

...damn it all, they're charging right in.  I can't just go without warning them.

With a sharp pull on the reins, Creidhne turned northward, and the two took off, pushing through the trees into clear sight of the newcomers, a view that confirmed her suspicion.  Even if they hadn't been taking the main road, this was clearly no band of common brigands.

Sakura peer down the road
:"Don't think they noticed us yet."
She then notices something to her right
:"Is there more soldiers that way? Colour look wrong to the others. A commander maybe or just hired help?
She sinks into the trees at 3,7. The trees almost seem to hide her, like they are alive

Grifen moved to (8,4) and tied Bree to a tree well away from those strange poison pools.

: "Best not drink that stuff, preacher. If it'll burn through shoes I don't wanna imagine what it'd do to yer insides."

Efa moves to 9,2.
:"Oh, it can't be that bad."

Sheila sighed as she surveyed the enemy force. Well, let's see here. Knights, they won't be much trouble with Maible and Sakura around. Fezz too, I guess. A couple mages, but nothing we can't handle. Those swordsmen are gonna give me trouble though. Sheila's train of thought was interrupted by Leo's warning. She turned back to the group. "I know better than that Leo. By the way, this really looks like a fight for the mages. Lots of heavy armor out there, swords too. Couple of mages, one of them a monk by his clothes. I'm not really sure how we should approach this, honestly... Wait, huh?" Sheila's attention was taken by the rider to the south. Sheila pointed. "Hey guys, look."

:"Tell me what you're talking about please, I'm deep in the middle of a forest. I can't see."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I apologize. I would just hate to see anything happen to you, Sheila."

Leo looked south at Sakura and Sheila's indications, then looked back at Efa.

"It's a horsewoman, I believe. Hmm... Do you think they might be on our side?"

Efa shrugs.
:"How would anyone tell?

"We could try hailing her, I suppose... although that would give away our position if she - or the people in the outpost - haven't noticed us yet and she turns out to be an enemy."

"Well... She doesn't seem to be wearing the same colors as the force by the gates, but that's no guarantee of anything."

"Irene, what do you think?"

[Haspen]

"It's simple. If she runs towards us, she must be a survivor from the outpost. If she attacks us or runs toward the Riemondians, she is our enemy. I don't see other options here."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Then we must take a 'wait and see' approach."

Leo flicked his eyes from the riders back to the outpost, scanning it carefully.

:"And what if she runs away from both sides?"
