The historian openly stared at the ruins from around the corner. The shouts, threats, and posturing of the further enemies meaning little to him. Seeing this... This! It brought a startling perspective.

Fezz lost all of his life's work because of a stupid merchant.
He was forced to defend himself, killing people in the process because of suicidally idiotic soldiers.
Shanghaied into a revolution started for reasons he's not even sure about but presumes moronic.
If it wasn't for Grifen or Leo, he'd question why he bothers getting up some days.
The mage hasn't felt a speck of normality or a shred of his old life in what felt like years.

Until now.

The scholar pinched his brow and gave a weary sigh. "I just wanted one thing. Just one little thing. Its all I ask, honestly. Now that its finally in my grasp, possibly attainable... This happens." The man slowly retrieved his tome.

"I'm tired of complaining. I am not letting you assholes take this away from me, not you and most certainly not fate. Not today."
