I'd say after Ashley there shouldn't have been more characters associated with the void if we could help it. I mean, what did Hilda being part void have to do with anything? She could just have easily had some other origin and it wouldn't have changed much.

Even HILDA being void doesn't change much at all--her magic is still the same, only affected by anti-void instead of anti-magic. The only thing that changes is her backstory, which ties into Akroma's lore really well--and also gives a good hook for future plots.
