Because it's both her job and what she wants to do with her powers. She wants to make people safe and happy. Also she likes to show off her clothes.

I doub't you just look in the papers and see "Hey, look at this: "Person wanted to work for a secrent agency, to combat and capture highly dangerous magical criminals. Entry level job, free dental plan." I guess I'll send out my CV, whaddya think?"

Actually that's about exactly what happened. Except the artical is a magic one that only people who have potential to consistently survive in that field can see. So Kyle could see it but someone like Will wouldn't.
