Kansa, a suggestion, just stick to rot as in biological rot, not just decay in general. for instance plastics first and foremost just break down into smaller and smaller pieces - it stays plastic nonetheless, until sunlight and some really aggressive stuff actually takes it apart. while you could say yes, that is decay, note how that is a *lot* slower than actual biological stuff decaying. you might very well say yes, she rots plastic too, however much much slower, so she has to throw out new clothes after a week or so before they actually fall apart.

That is a good idea, it makes sense that plastic would decay a lot slower than other materials. Though as you suggest it might be best to just stick to rot rather than decay in general, I'm not really sure where she would get the money to buy new clothes if they were constantly decaying on her.

I'd probably alter your power to magically-targeted decay of living organics, period. Or hell, change it to involuntary transmutation.

picture, an organic compound by your definition. which is simply wrong. if you cared to check the wikipedia article for more than the first few lines, you'll see that it also mentions that "the distinction is ...arbitrary". in actual practise, it's a question of structure and reactivity much more complex than "does it contain carbon". anyone who declares malachite to be an organic compound will quickly be laughed at. please do not quote wikipedia as a fact against common sense. no matter the carbon content, steel doesn't share any similarity with actual organic compounds

Yes, it USED To denote living things, however every single authority on chemistry has reestablished the definition so it's not so damn soft and actually denotes a class of things.

Also, this is now mostly unrelated to Kansa and I agree with her changing the power. Specifying that it has to be biological in origin would also work, while keeping the original intent.
