Half tempted to put the game on hiatus so that everyone can chill off and forget the arguments.

I wouldn't mind. We could all chill out for a bit.

-snip-
I agree with this, although protecting a few thousand kids from manticores isn't the easiest thing in the world.

Well then don't ask KJ to justify his. I doubt he'd do what Kyle does here either. Sheesh...
I was...
A. asking kj not yo justify Kyle's actions, and
B. asking kj to explain Kyle's actions.

What does everyone think of cheese pizza?
It's not bad, but why have cheese pizza if you can have toppings? Usually cheese pizza isn't even cheaper.

Half tempted to put the game on hiatus so that everyone can chill off and forget the arguments.
Your choice.

GMing 101, *rules* for diplomacy are a boring and broken way to deal with things, especialy with largely unchecked dicerolls

when players have the ability to talk people out of things just because they rolled well, it will reliably crash any plot you ever have in mind

I urge you strongly, in a game about roleplay, handle diplomacy via diplomacy. that's more work, but it encourages immersion and actual interests in the NPCs motivation. (of course it also implies they have a motivation). this game is almost entirely dialouge, why would an diplomatic approach be a roll?

when someone wants to end combat peacefully, depending on WHY there is any fighting, often just saying so might be an option. or leave you open to enemies killing you, REALLY depends on why you are fighting

assuming manticores are probably not very intelligent, that is not an option though. if they act on instinct though, scaring them away, distracting them, or simply protecting the children until they are evacuated though are fair options, as well as trying to capture them under nets or various traps

manticores have human faces too. they might be capable of speech, and their intelligence could vary wildly, depending on why the hell they are here

of course if they are just random encounters, that option either falls flat, or you just improvise and spin something out of it. GMing is 90% going along with what is happening. thinking on your feet is not always easy though

Akroma, I never said anything about rolls, and anyway they aren't of human level intelligence, if they were, then rolling and roleplay would be used.

Yeah, if they were of human intelligence I would have tried talking to them.

Also, nuuuu I can settle down.

And back to pizza:  Yeah, I prefer meat or supreme pizza really.

Hm. I'll see how everything goes. To be honest, the arguments aren't fun to scroll through, if at all.

Also, I'm a pepperoni fanboy. Sue me.

Pepperoni is pretty good, yeah. A bit...dull though. I mean, most of the time there's pizza at public events, there's pepperoni, sausage, cheese. Hence, I tend to prefer things like spinach alfredo and the like that aren't as common. And, ideally, that are slightly healthier.

Now I'm hungry. Dinnertime.

Why don't you chill off with a new round of the Shipping Poll? :3
I'm sick of shipping. Elf should start a game that is all shipping, just to get it all out of his system.

at GWG, because excuse me Elf, this is important: You should not get so moraly worked up at a game. We are talking about a fictional game with fictional manticores eating fictional children. Getting angry about it IC, sure thing. Getting angry about it OOC - you should take a break from the game, take a breather, have a tea and maybe watch some cat videos on youtube, and then return to the game when you are not angry anymore. One must NOT continue playing the game when you are genuinely angry. Nobody is benefiting from that. It's not fun for you when you get angry at the game, and not fun for KJ when you get angry at him over it. Unless you are enjoying all these arguements so much, in that case, I'd ask Elf to consider the implications.

No children died. it's fiction. why would anyone get angry at that? those *heinous deeds* are just part of a story. in stories, bad things need to happen, else what't the point of heroes?

and no, of COURSE it's not the easiest thing in the world to save children from manticores. I am not sure what kinda difficulty level Elf has been running here, but difficulty is a good thing, else there is no sense of achievement. Those were half a dozen mythological beasts, and they were utterly destroyed, the threat level was 0. It was a genuinely boring encounter (no offense elf, probably not your fault. I gather you picked this game up from someone else...that someone should have kept everyone's powerlevel at check while he still could. as the characters are now, it's pretty hard to really create a situatio that is difficult to handle)

It wasn't so much their power levels were in check as much as it was a clusterfuck of PCs stampeding upon the poor things.

The difficulty wouldn't be so low if it wasn't for the repeated fail rolls and, oh, the other thing.

Anima went missing.
