My Lords, Ladies, commonfolk and guttersprogs, welcome to...
    Medieval Jousting Heroes
    Stage 1 - Nantes

By the grace of our benefactor, the equine faced Baron de la Filly,
We are pleased to announce four days of revelry, pummeled ponies, skewered squires and contused knights.
We require four teams, who should they sign up for a chance to win the grand prize of 100 shillings,
Or be trampled into the soft mud with their pride by their own steeds like bridleway buffoons,
Shall be honoured for their participation with unbridled adoration!
Step up to pen your names!

    General Rules
    • Four teams of three players, a Knight, a Squire and a Steed, will compete in a round-robin, with the two top teams progressing to a grand final.
    • To create a team, submit the require team data, below, first come first served.
    • Each Joust consists of three periods; Pre-Joust, Joust and Post-Joust.
    • In each period, each team member automatically performs one action, and may perform other actions up to their number of Action Points.  e.g. A Squire in the Pre-Joust period will always automatically try to attatch his Knight's armour (and roll to do so).  If the Squire has 1 Pre-Joust AP, he can also try to do something else, which must also be rolled for.
    • Each team member has 4 stats, from 1 to 9, which he must roll equal to or under on a d10 to succeed at Actions.
    • When allocating points, you have 16 to spend.  The minimum is 1 and the maximum is 9 for each skill.
    • Contests between characters are decided after both roll, until one or both of them fail a roll.
    • All characters start with 1 Pre-Joust AP, 1 Joust AP and 1 Post-Joust AP - or AP(1,1,1).
    • The difficulty for each Action is set by the character's skill.  e.g. a Squire with a Brawling of 5 will succeed on any Brawling check if he rolls 5 or under.  1 is always a Miraculous Success, 10 is always a Terrible Failure.
    • All Actions, including automatic Actions, in the Pre-Joust period have a chance to improve (+) or diminish (-) dice rolls in the Joust period.
    • All Actions, including automatic Actions, can be improved by good roleplay.
    • For each period, once everyone submits their Actions, the GM will roll dice and describe the outcome.
    • Tournament stages will be one year apart, so all characters will age one year from tournament to tournament.

    Pre-Joust Period Rules
    • All players submit their Actions for the pre-joust period.  2 day time limit, after which anyone can suggest their Action.
    • Submitted Actions can be specified as taking place before or after Automatic Actions.
    • GM rolls die and describes the outcome of Automatic and Submitted Actions.

    Joust Period Rules
    • All players submit their Actions for the joust period.  1 day time limit, after which anyone can suggest their Action.
    • Submitted Actions will occur first.  Once the Joust begins, players will automatically be given more Actions until the Joust finishes.
    • Joust begins - Steeds always gallop on the first run (injury permitting).  Knights roll Lancery.
    • A successful Lancery roll requires a Shieldery roll from the opponent.
    • A failed Shieldery roll requires an Injury roll (see below) and an Equine Affinity roll.
    • A failed Equine Affinity roll means the Knight falls from the horse.
    • If both Knights remain horsed and capable, repeat from step 1 but Steeds must roll Stamina.
    • A failed Stamina roll means the Knight is a sitting duck so opponent gets a +1 to Lancery
    • If one or both Knights are dehorsed, Squires may run in.  They can do anything they like (but attacking the opponent Knight or Steed is an automatic loss).
    • Whatever happens from then on, players will have to roll the most appropriate skill to perform Actions.
    • The Joust ends when one Knight is incapable of fighting or yields or the Squire yields in his stead (to protect the honour of his Lord).

    Post-Joust Period Rules
    • All players submit their Actions for the post-joust period.  2 day time limit, after which anyone can suggest their Action.
    • Submitted Actions can be specified as taking place before or after Automatic Actions.
    • GM rolls die and describes the outcome of Automatic and Submitted Actions.

All To-Hit and Damage rolls are made from the perspective of the attacker following, of course, a successful attack.  So 1 is best and 10 is worst.

Thankfully, the father had passed away before his grandsons went insane, otherwise Ithey might have had to come up with an animal with 6 legs for them to imitate. Even more luckily, they each only had one son.

So, are you looking for 12 players (4 steeds, 4 squires and 4 knights) or 4 players (each running a steed, a squire and a knight)?

12 players.  Maybe cut down to 2 or 3 teams if there aren't enough.  Three players on one team.  One is the Knight, one is the Squire, one is the Steed.
