The portal would have felt mildly violated from being probed by Fluffy. If it was sentient that is. Turns out non-responsive rips in the fabric of reality aren't actually sentient. In other incredible revelations of this day, living organisms are alive and the ground is (generally) solid.

Fluffy felt nothing. Not as in the absence of matter, but rather the absence of all. Not touch, no temperature, nothing... Concepts themselves didnot exist within the rift... Turns out nothing feels exactly like nothing thus bringing in yet another brilliant observation to today's ground breaking research.

In an overly paranoid display of complete OH&S compliance, Fluffy takes the safest option possible: he sticks his head into the enigmatic dimensional rift and trusts that it won't automatically murder him. Nope nothing. He doesn't hear, see or taste anything. The concepts of sensory perception do not exist within the Stygian depths of the abyss. Wait... he feels something... something strange... oh wait no, that's just the feeling of impending asphyxiation from sticking his head into an airless vacuum and having the air rush out of his lungs into it.
