Got that. Does the generated map form the new background thingy?

What's the new background thingy? The blue and green hexagons are the map if that's what you mean.

That's about what I meant.

Currently clicking on them takes you to a blank page unless you are logged in as an admin in which case there is a php form that lets you change their type to sea or land. Later it will provide detailed data to you about that hex based on the information you should have access to. Different players will see different things.

I have rewritten the first post to be more useful. If you think it fails to explain anything feel free to tell me in the thread so I can fix it.

I have not yet added buildings or spells but anything else feel free to criticize.

I've done quit a lot of work on the map. Sadly due to the display its hard to edit the right half. Landmass goes from large to small from right to left. Also the top has more larger landmass than the bottom.

I'm going to try to code in a way to cut off the right side so I can edit the left side more easily. Map should be done today. I expect at least 1200 land hexes. I know the shapes don't look too realistic but they have strategic implications.

As previously noted you will get to pick 10 provinces. You need them to connect aside from crossing the sea but I'll warn you that it will take a while to get enough boats to send major armies cross ocean, especially as a land aligned nation. So I suggest you think carefully about trying to put your starting provinces on multiple landmasses.

I changed my ideal land value to 1000, but when I made the actual map I decided I just wanted more water than that.

So the map is complete at 850 land and 1550 sea territory. I'm only going to have two hex types for this first game, later I'll probably add some other stuff.

I am going to add code to let players sign up and pick lands. You'll be able to pick 10 lands, and they will be displayed on the map.

I'd like everyone to pick a color they would like their territory to be. I am also stopping at the current 40 races. Governments and heroes are now set in stone as of the edits I made to the OP. You now have 25 race points.

I am going to start a new sign up thread separate from this as the discussion thread. Sign up with a complete application there including your color. I will set up the province selection once everyone has their colors in. Then pick your stuff. You may add a general area in your post, and if people have conflicting selections that will be worked out. But there is enough land for everyone.

Remember post read and post in the signup thread and make sure races are still what you thought. I am not sure how recently you looked. Races are on the table on my site, the ones in thread are not valid.
