I was recently messaged by a former player of Lordship, inquiring as to whether there was any possibility of unlocking and continuing the game. As it has been a month and tempers and emotions have likely cooled, I said I'd consider it.

As part of that consideration, I wanted to ask the forum and gauge the thoughts of other former players. Is there any interest in this? Should I unlock it? Should I let sleeping dogs lie? The other possibility is me starting another suggestion game, which I've been contemplating as well. Just wanted to get some input from my former (and other prospective) players.

I'm still interested in what happens to Sir Stone.

However, I suspect that the issues that caused the conflicts were less temporary passions than the buildup of tension between clashing psyches. Put into layman's terms, if the same people show up the same thing has a high likelihood of occurring.

Creation of an OOC thread could maybe help to divert conflicts, though I'm not so sure about it's usefulness.

It's kinda this reasoning that original game earned it's last strike. People started assuming that some posters suggestions were bad without even reading and/or considering them, and directly raged against them. Unlike what the reactions of various players would suggest, the incidents weren't Gervassen's fault.

Primary problem was that people failed to see that the game was indeed a game, and desperately clinged to an "idealized" version of Sir Stone and his surroundings.

I was actually referring to the fact that people acted the way they acted and had a high probability of doing similarly the second time.
Still, I suppose you bring up a decent point.

Wow. Glad to see that this could be a thing again. But it'd be a shame if we just used this opportunity to rehash a bunch of old grievances based on our subjective hurt feelings. Objectively, we can agree that one thing is certain: there is no clear replacement Lordship-like game on the horizon in these forums. A month has shown various announced attempts, and at least five threads openly tried to reclaim part of its energy. They seem to sputter out. 

We can also agree that the game left off before building to the story arc's proper climax. I would like to see it restart for this reason, even if my participation were zero. My participation was darkened by episodes of antagonism, mainly because I was trying to play Stone as an ambitious and grimdark character intent upon climbing upward; while others wanted the standard dutiful knight.

I think, several times, I did go too grim... but the reaction of others was moral outrage, where amused eye-rolling would have been more appropriate. I say let's start it back up with a better frame of reference that we're all in a game, and that none of us really sacrifice newborn babies to Cthulhu in real life. Except perhaps Origami Psycho.

I think one issue was that neither side really ever bent. At best, a few people shifted to a position closer to the center.

Gerv, with a lot of your suggestions you were the only or one of the few behind them. Mathematically, they were unlikely to work. I'd like you to change your image of what Stone "should" be a few steps to the more optimistic.
Everyone else, this is a (suggested) compromise, so change yours a step or two to the more pragmatic.

Long story. In short, a small number of people kept throwing hissy fits, which started arguments.

Personally i would love to see it back. I was really enjoying the story, and was very sad to see it go.

The biggest problem was that, while each update ended a series of arguments...the tensions remained.

As did some of the longer-term arguments.

And no worlds were devastated by the wars.

And, thankfully, there was no Udil.

Anyway, is there any hope of bringing the game back from where it ended? Or in any continuity with the old one?
