So I've read about 2/3 this thread over the course of the last week.  It is one of the most awesome things I have read the very long time.  When I get home tonight I'm going to download die a horrible death at the hands of many invertebrates.

I've quickly thrown together another piece of fan-art. This one is a picture of a male halfling.

I imagined them to dress like colonial Americans: spats, sleeve garters, double-breasted waistcoats, big ties, and ponytails on the men. I might do another one for the female halflings, if I get the chance.

Well, if we are uploading fan art, then I suppose I could post a few things. The quality is rather low, but It's jut something I drew in few hours to kill time. They are all on the same sheet of paper, but I couldn't get a good shot of all of them in detail so I had to split them into 5 separate pictures. Uploaded on http://postimage.org/ :

The first one, and the only one I intended to draw at first. It's meant to be a tree lord converting a corpse into an elf, which I imagine would include stitching up his wounds with vines. Originally It was meant to be a full picture of a tree lord and one elf, but I just couldn't decide on how to make the tree lord look, even after rooting through their raws. Hence me just cutting out all but one branch and segmenting the paper.

The second one, a halfling smoking a pipe next to his doggie. Not much to say here except that I couldn't remember whether or not they wear shoes and that I hated trying to draw that doggies paws and face. I honestly didn't intend for him to look so crazed, but I had redone it so many time I just went "meh, leave it as it is"

A formic worker, being loyal to the queen, hauling some small herb/bug (now that I look at it, it sort of looks like  wrench) that my or may not be in the game. I had difficulty deciding how many legs they had and which ones were used as arms, and the background legs gave me some trouble, as you can see from the rubbing out marks that I tried to cover with the cave wall. I think the face came out quite well.

Daemonic Cherubim, probably one of the best out of what I've drawn. I enjoyed drawing the armour but the wings were a pain and wore out the pencil quickly. I'll be honest and say that my rendition of the cherubim here was plagiarized from inspired by http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080812150940/megamitensei/images/e/e4/PowerDS.jpg, since they are what I immediately thought of when first reading about them.

The last and least in quality, a dwarven shade. To be honest, I drew this just to fill the last spot on the paper, and as the pencil was worn out I decided to draw something that I had an excuse to make obscure and undetailed. I decided that the only thing that really needed to be visible on this once-thing was his eyes, and of course, his beard. Was tempted to put in a Plump Helmet man shade, even though they aren't in the game, but I was tired and decided against it.

So there they are. I'm honestly quite proud of myself, despite my lack of artistic skill. It was a good way to use up an hour or so of my weekend if nothing else.

Good on you for getting the relative sizes right. The expression is about right too, hounds are large predators and like fighting according to their tags after all

Halflings wear "open sandals" which actually cover 0% of the foot according to their raws. This is a workaround; in DF, if an intelligent race does not wear any shoes, it invariably gets unhappy thoughts about not having shoes, even if it's physically incapable of wearing shoes, does not know what shoes are, and does not have a word for them.

I've gotten some work done on the wiki; there is now a semi-complete page on the halflings. I'll not post a link yet because, due to an embarrassing typo, the site needs to be renamed, and that takes a special request to the wikia administrators.

I'm reading another DFFS wiki by Zanzetkuken. Exciting

Anyway, such a resource will be great, 100+ pages is a lot to read for anyone and we're already at 124. Especially good would be a proposals system for unimplemented content too, so anyone on their turn can easily find it, although it would have to be safe from funny third party edits.

You can sorta still see the faint outlines of some wings. I decided in the end that a flying basilisk bug erred on the side of "extreme overkill" and kept it landbound. The halflings don't even know how close they came to extinction at the gaze of a race of airborne horrors.

Might see what I can interpret off the raws for other folks' critters later.


@Kero42, on the topic of formic limbs, they've got four arms and two legs. Nice picture of one nevertheless
