Made it almost 2 years as a hobbit town before shit hit the fan. Highlights: 99% of my migrants were farmers or hunters, reaver ants are evil and like ripping off heads, Bandit Moths are actually rather vicious if engaged in combat, and a Golden Mamaphint became mayor. Pretty sure that last one is not a feature. Details below. Wish I remembered to take pictures, but it was mostly uneventful until the end. Need to embark somewhere more exciting.
So, made myself a little hobbit town in a world named The Star of Heroes beneath the banner of the Mallards of War. I expected good things. Lets take a look at what happened, shall we?
Records recovered from the ruins of Childcursed in the Still Hills on the shores of the Lakes of Darling, formerly inhabited by the by the Radiantgreen Idiots.
My name is Creation Homemind. My associate Petal Petaltit and I have decided it is time to strike out on our own. Petaltit went and gathered up a number of volunteers to found a new town. Its... a scruffy crowd. We have Champion Foulhalfling, Traitor Brainwar, Hame Traitordesert, Neither Traitorfalse, and Road Savagewry, and 5 mallards. I'm convinced they are all criminals, even the ducks. This is what happens when you let a Petaltit do something important. No matter, we leave tonight.
1st Granite, 501: At the foot of the Still Hills is the Lakes of Darling. Its very... flat. The river and lake are teaming with river squid and bombus roam the woods. The traitors have taken to throwing rocks at them. Almost to the point of not doing anything else. Sent Foulhalfing to dig out a root cellar, Petaltit to start farming, two of the Traitors into the woods to start harvesting lumber, the third Traitor to hunt the local bombus, and Savagewry to start cutting stone into blocks as Foulhalfing digs. Me? Witling arrows for the hunting.
27th Granite, 501: Farms are going nicely, four plots pumping out pumpkins, flax, and a few other crops. A duck coop is up and foraging is going well while crops grow. A mineshaft has been sunk and producing azurite for the mason and a growing town hall. Things are going smoothly.
23rd Slate, 501: Cuttlers have migrated to the area. Does anything out here have bones?
17th Malachite, 501: Migrants. Census gives us 4 Farmers, 3 Hunters, 2 Children, 1 Theraphosa, and 1 Golden Mamaphint. Set them all to work cutting more wood and building cabins.
1st Sandstone, 501: More migrants. Census is 3 Hunters, 1 Farmer, and 1 Pack Beetle. And its a female, with our original beast, we now have a breeding pair. Promoted one of them, a Steward Voledeep to the position of Record Keeper. His name just fits. Town hall is complete, along with my office on the second floor and my cabin.
14th Sandstone, 501: Our male just starved. Someone forgot to put him in a paddock to graze. Fresh meat. And a migrant has gone a little loopy. Whelp Stupidityswamps demanded a clothing shop, and now wants silk and metal. I'm pretty sure he is going to go crazy.
14th Timber, 501: Traders, lead by Hunting Sea Dirtfly, have arrived. And elves, fantastic. And they have crap, no trading for them today. In other news, one of the migrant children Halfling Blackflax has taken to hunting. Actually pretty good at it.
1st Granite, 502: A new year, and a discovery! During shaft expansion, Foulhalfing discovered a cavern. And its not full of azurite, hallelujah we have a new color stone.
24th Granite, 502: My gods migrants. 16 Hunters, 12 Farmers, 7 Children, 1 Mamaphint Farmer... odd, 2 War Mamaphints, 1 Hound, 2 Bombus, 1 Water Grub, 1 Hunting Hound, and a Pack Beetle, ofcourse female. Raised a militia out of the hunters. And Stupidityswamps went crazy. Didn't move more than a few feet with all these hunters around.
6th Slate, 502: Setup an archery range that my militia refuses to use but keeps saying they will. Lazy bastards, set them on the wildlife for training. And well timed as a Bandit Moth decided to pay us a visit. It killed one militia man and mauled another. Peace Homechief died and Tiger Appletreesea is missing his right thigh. Tiger is still fulfilling his duties, as creepy as it is to have a guy walking around without a thigh.
17th Felsite, 502: Traders! With useless crap! And Neither Traitorfalse seems to be possessed. Also wants silk. Have my new army and their war mamaphints standing by.
6th Malachite, 502: Yep, he went berserk. One of the mamaphints charged him and sent him flying, where he bounced and skidded until he slammed into a tree. These critters are great.
17th Malachite, 502: Migrant; 4 Hunters, 3 Children, 1 Cook, 1 Potter, 1 Clothier, and 2 Bombus. And someone said we have ants in the caverns. Shouldn't be an issue.
24th Malachite, 502: A headless child was found in the cave. Signs of ants all over.
25th Malachite, 502: Two more dead, also headless. Sending in the militia.
27th Malachite, 502: Three more dead. Need to solve this problem.
1st Galena, 502: A Man-Eater has arrived, was discovered mauling a lumberjack. Recalled the militia from below to deal with this thing.
5th Galena, 502: Lost three lumberjacks in total, but the Man-Eater is not a problem anymore. Quite enjoyable watching a Golden Mamaphint manhandle a Man-Eater though. Militia is going back to the depths.
Records change authors at this point. These records raise many questions about the sapience of mamaphints.
10th Galena, 502: The militia is dead. Many Halflings are dead. The population has dropped from 60 to 30. And that is after several litters. I, Mayor Tit Mookdragon, the Peace Chain, have taken it upon myself to fulfill the duty of a Golden Mamaphint. I went to the depths to avenge my charges, all 20 ants are now dead.
23rd Galena, 502: The Halflings are still grieving the losses. Graves are being dug across the river, and statues being raised for a proper graveyard.
22nd Opal, 502: The ants came back, in greater numbers. It is time for us to move on. I have gathered my remaining charges and am leading them to new lands.
