I dunno, I've liked what I've seen so far of Shadowrun.

If shadowrun turns out bland it will be from its story and how the elements of gameplay come together to give the world an organic feel. That is where most of its bland factor is centered.

Since otherwise its aesthetics is pretty good, and its combat is passible.

Stonehearth, yeah it could go either way.  It was one that I thought looked great at the start, but the longer it went on the less convinced I was.  Hopefully it turns out to be good.

Stonehearth's bland factor became known to me the second I saw that the creation tools are not in game tools and thus are purely modding. Stonehearth's bland factor is just it in general, everything about it can easily end up bland.

The reason why the modding raised an alarm is mostly that whenever there is a feature that can "fix" a lack of a feature and it is considered a major part of the game... There is a great tendency to excuse mediocre execution.

Hadn't heard of that, looked it up.

Whoa. Words fail me.
Just... no. That's about all I can muster up about it.

I've supported two.  One is Ryan North's Choose Your Own Adventure Hamlet illustrated by pretty much every illustrious webcomic artist out there.

The other is Wasteland 2 by Brian Fargo and inXile.  The head moderator from the No Mutants Allowed Forum (long time Fallout forum) was just recently hired on to the staff there and the game is progressing really well.

Both very credible sources.  I would have a hard time funding anything less credible.

Guys, it's not very complicated. I don't see what there is to not wrap your mind around.

I can't get any proper links. All that I got was Chloe apparently claiming to have needed surgery to remove something surgeons left in her, which is clearly bullshit as she could sue them to hell and back if they DID leave something in her that caused complications, or, at the very least, have it removed free of charge.
She claimed she needed the money for life-saving surgery: a piece of shrapnel from a car accident poisoning her. What she actually wanted was surgery to change her physical sex. Indiegogo cancelled the project (refunding all donations) due to its "fraud algorithm", Chloe attempted suicide on Twitch TV, and a since-punished reporter saw fit to share Chloe's transgender identity and motives. In summary, deceptive people were being deceptive and it didn't turn out well for anyone involved.

One is Ryan North's Choose Your Own Adventure Hamlet illustrated by pretty much every illustrious webcomic artist out there.
Like I said, publications are a lot better for Kickstarter than games. The book was already written, so Kickstarter got it into production and added to it, without the author needing to make an investment himself. Much safer to donate to than a game that is partially finished, at best.

It's not that the concept of kickstarters is bad, it's just that in the current system the investors are gambling on smokes and mirrors instead of facts.
I just imagined Kickstarter as an prison-themed casino in Las Vegas, which further illustrates the point of why I don't donate money to projects on there. It's too risky and you're likely to get shanked in the end.

I tend to fire and forget kickstarters, if it's good it's a nice present to future me and if not I've not exactly gave money I desperately needed away (if you're at a point where every penny counts...why are you backing kickstarters?). Then again I'm also a fan of the whole Early Access thing, and the idea that since software development is inherently iterative why not include the customer at an early stage so you can actually have them help you iterate to the best possible product. Waterfall sucks.

Plus it's the only way you could get me to accept "Software as a service": The continued updates and maintenance are the service I purchased, not the software itself.

if you're 100% positive about committing suicide, you don't leave things to chance.
Derail here, but females frequently use less lethal methods of suicide - less likely to cause immediate death. (link)
And some say that she was just drinking and holding a knife, rather than overdosing on camera. It wasn't a terribly popular livestream event.

But capitalism. We want to buy, not donate.

If you're snickering about the word choice when referring to a transgender individual, I just used what was on the pages I read.

It's not that I can't wrap my mind around it, it's that I cannot muster up the words to describe the stupidity, idiocy and attention-whoring of the whole thing.

Truth, though I feel bad about mentioning it and starting the derail at this point.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

's not really a derail, because the whole thing was a Kickstarter(ish) Scam.

Kickstarter does but it still needs to respect the nature of the kickstarter anyhow.

Heck there is nothing against someone releasing everything for free after a kickstarter.
