Afaik, Kings not of your dejure empire will always ask for independance.
I never played CKII but it draws my interest. What's "de jure" and what basis does it have?

De jure is the long standing boundaries of the various kingdoms recognized by traditions.  So if England takes Normandy from France, Normandy will be part of England "de facto", but everyone recognizes that it's traditionally part of France.  So a duke in Normandy can try to revolt away from England, the French king can wage wars to take back the counties and peasant revolts might spring up against the English king.  After 50 years of holding the complete duchy, it will change it's de jure owner.

After 100 years of holding the complete duchy, it will change it's de jure owner.
But yeah, each duchy is de jure part of a kingdom (which can change), and each kingdom is de jure part of an empire.

Also, I'm happy you died before changing the succession law, the Butavas will rule !

Yeah. It would have been a shame if I would have been able to elect my daughter to inherit. Who is also betrothed to the Byzantine Emperor...

How long is this game going to go for?  Doesn't look like there is much meaningful challenge left at this point.

Keeping the Byzzie throne in our dynasty has been quite a challenge so far :P

I hope you can wait a few days for my go. I remain trapped in the horrible experience called... *shudder* vacation in sunny South France. :P

If you can't wait I will be devastated. DEVASTATED.

Alright, played quite a bit in.

At Dutchling's insistence, I decided the Emperor was indeed a layabout hippie. Muahahaha.

Gonna continue/possibly finish tomorrow. This kinda bloated, hehe. Apologies for the big images.

Fun Fact: Emperor Bitchface of the Byzantines was descended from my King's lovely daughter. I knew they'd strike it big someday. *tear in eye*

Not gonna bother with a Part 2. Rest assured I helped keep the Byzzie Empress on the throne and chilled around, slight expansion. Also, I left the Empires in wonderful state for my successor. Bwahaah. Don't blame me for his traits, either, he wasn't supposed to inherit.

Here goes the save.

Part 1: Year 1137

At the Age of 32 Kunos I takes the Throne of the Mightiest Man in the Known World: Emperor of the Wendish Empire

Spoiler:  The Greater Wendland (click to show/hide)

The Lands of the Wends and in extension the Dynasty of Palemonaitis includes Carpathia, Byzantine Empire and the Wendish Empire itself, From the Rhine to the Volga, From Northern Finland to Southern Italy the Empire is the largest Sovereign Nation in Europe...apart from one.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The Baturayid Sultanate is the only force which can rival our power...otherwise there is no major power left in Europe. Sure in the North the Norwegian King and his Norse followers are about to form Scandinavia, but to be honest i like him and do not wish to conquer these cold forbidding lands. In the West the Remaining Christian Karlings are ripepd apart by Religious Disagreements as the Lollardist movement threatens to rise against the Catholic Pope.

Other Notable Kingdoms include Croatia which managed to hold out against my Kinsmen of Carpathia and Byzantine and the Marawanid Sultanate in Spain, which is fighting agains tonrushing Babarians from the Black Continent.

I haven't even ruled half a year as suddenly my vassals start to claim that the rightful Ruler of Wendland would be my Cousin of God knows what degree. He is a spawn fo some Cadet Line ruling over the German Bavaria.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The First big Battle begins at Nürnberg, where the Soldiers of the Bohemian Duchess meet with the still loyal men of my Bavarian Cousin. Ironically he is leading the troops against her, while my Personal Army of Twenty Thousand Men sieges Praha. THe Battle of Nürnberg is a massacre, we lose nearly eight thousand men before my soldiers manage a retreat.

And just like that, the rbellion is over. My Cousin fighting and dying in the battle was confirmed dead. He is indeed a loyal man, living a quiet life in a mansion on the Courlandish Coast...

But i am not the only one having trouble with rebellious Lords. My Kinsman Diogenes of Byzantine has asked for help in his own Civil War. I decided to send a Expedition Force of Eighty Thousand Soldiers.
