The Wendish Empire: A Crusader Kings the Old Gods succession game

The rules are pretty simple:

- Play until the current dynasty leader dies then pass the game to the next person in the queue

- People can hop in or leave the queue whenever they like.

- Try not to use strategies that are too gamey

- Don't purposely sabotage the game for someone else

- Have fun!

The current play order is:

Wiles: Turn 1: King Palemon I 867-886, Turn 9: Emperor Treniotas the Great 1025-1080
Dutchling: Turn 3: King Povilas I, Part 1, 2, 3, 4 892-930
Digital Hellhound: Turn 2: King Kunos I 886-892
Ghazkull: Turn 4: Emperor Palemon the Holy 930-961
PanH: Turn 5: Emperor Butavas I the Great 961-992
Karlito: Turn 6: Emperor Butavas II 992-110
FritzPL: Turn 7: Emperor Lubartas I Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 992-1025
Mainiac: Turn 8: Emperor Ermantas I Part 1, Part 2 1025-1037

As said, up for it! I have;

- Sword of Islam
- The Republic
- The Old Gods

I'd be interested in Romuva or Slavic pagans, maybe the High Chief of Livonia or such. Someone in that region has a lightningbolt for a flag, I mean, come on.

Assuming you also have the Byzantine expansion, I think it would be best that everyone should have that, as without it saves will probably do all kinds of weird things.

Anyway, I'm interested! Assuming we are not playing as Muslim (I like big dynasties which vanilla decadency makes impossible) or Norse (I think everyone played tons of Norse already by now :P). That is as a first person of course. Conversion can always happen ^-^

Playing as a Zoroastrian is fun, but the starting location isn't exactly favourable... What about a Slavic or Baltic pagan, who may or may not later on decide to convert to Zoroastrianism?

I'm interested to see how this goes. If the sign-up rules are going to be like in DF succession forts, I might apply for a turn later.
Also, play as Pommeranians on a quest to unite Baltic shores from Zealand to Courland. That's got to be fun.

Interested. Maybe a Vlach Count or like the Rest some Baltic Pagan.

I have:
-Sword of Islam
-The Republic
-Legacy of Rome
-Sunset Invasion
-the Old Gods

so pretty much all of them XP

Ok - so how about one of these guys

High Chief Palemon I of Lithuania (Romova pagan) or High Chief Zhavoronok of Vyatichi (Slavic pagan).

here's a screencap of the region where they are

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I have all of the expansions for the game. I'd like to play with Legacy of Rome (retinues), but I'd prefer to play with what we all have - and so far it seems like we all have

- The Old Gods
- Sword of Islam
- The Republic

I'm interested too, and I have all the DLCs.

Zoroastrian or a north pagan (norse/baltic) seems fine to me. Even if the Zoroastrian starting position is hard, it can be fun.

I'm thinking Lithuanian because access to sea, but then I noticed that the rivers are totally ok for ships :P Lithuania still sounds good because of those 1-territory tribes and counts around. And overally being closer to the sea and the Catholic counts.
Taking another look, yeah. Taking territories of modern-day Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia should be easy and simple.

I prefer Lithuania as well.

While I don't particularly care about retinues or not, someone will forget to turn it off if we play without and will make the save (presumably) unplayable for those without the DLC anyway.

You know, I might as well check what happens if you try to load a retinue save without activating the correct DLC.

edit: You need Legacy of Rome to hire new retinues. You do not need it to control any existing ones :D. This means those who own the DLC can play with it, and those without can play without while being able to use the retinues the earlier player had.

That's good news! I really like how they've handled the dlcs in that regard.

Unless there are any objections I'll start a game up as Lithuania and update the OP tonight.

So far we have

-Digital Hellhound
-Dutchling
-Ghazkull
-PanH

and FritzPL might like a turn later on.

Sounds good, looking forward to my turn. I'll probably keep an AAR-style diary of my ruler's exploits if I remember to.

How are turns going to look like? One year is obviously not enough, unless we want this to take longer than that C2C lp. Turns are until the current ruler dies, or a certain period of time?

The lifetime of a ruler, which can either be a single day, or a century ;D

I suggest we don't go overboard with fighting the effects of gavelkind and whatnot. It's more fun if the previous guy didn't already conquer half the map, I'd say.

Naturally purposeful sabotage of your heir could be done, too. Not that we'd ever do such a horrible thing.  ;D
