Use considerable girth on the door. Do it enough so they believe it is locked, and we couldn't have entered. Because we obviously don't know lock-picking spells, they were all forgotten.

[4] You peek out the door and attempt to cast your open spell on the far door.  It doesn't work, whether because the stress of the situation has made you forget how to cast your new spell or the lock is simply too strong for it you're not certain.  You slide back inside the office and shut the door, then lock it.
