[RPG] The Temple of Sthasa [Turn 2: Partings and Goo]
« on: June 02, 2013, 12:01:31 am »

Welcome to the Temple of Sthasa, also known as the Sepulcher of Sorrow, the Barrow of Dread, and the SINISTER SUBTERRANE OF SUPREME SORROW. It is frequently simply called Temple by the inhabitants.

Whatever its name, it's a sprawling mass of largely underground (or at least indoors) tunnels, chambers, and deathtraps. The locals war with each other and the local monsters, trying to eke out a living in a place filled with powers and forces beyond their ken. Creatures and items of great power commonly rise from this strife...

...possibly including you.

You see, you have been chosen. Chosen for what, you'll have to find out. But merely patrolling the walls with your fellow slime-folk or tilling your peasant dirt-farm isn't going to cut it any more- like it or not, you're an adventurer now.

Hope that works out for you.

oh boy

Name: Jessica
Race: Human
Physical Description: Think normal human female, just with a robe on that conceals pretty much everything, along with a beak mask over the face, like a old plague mask.
Mental Description: Friendly and shy, yet also murderous. She'll be kind to the group, and she wont draw attention to herself, but when it comes to enemies, she likes to take them down herself.
Backstory: There was a flash of light and now you're somewhere you don't recognize. Oh hell, a wizard caught you or something, didn't he?

Name: Nam Les
Race: Abberant/Doll
Physical Description: A humanoid person, mostly covered in red-furred skin but with large patches of orange scales on the upper body and a reptilian head. His left arm is gone; two slender, Doll-like arms protrude from the stump.
Mental Description: Eccentric but insightful. Pretty unpredictable, but loyal. Usually.
Backstory: Nam lived in the slums of a large city for a while, living off of scraps and what he could swap for what he found. He lost his arm in a fight, and had to save up for over two years to get replacements. He lived okay for a while. Then there was a flash of light and now he's somewhere he doesn't recognize. Oh hell, a wizard caught him or something, didn't he?

Name: Dovid
Race: Golem
Physical Description: Dovid is a large bipedal golem with four arms. He is composed entirely of tough darkwood lacquer with a glossy finish, with a steel skeleton and joints underneath to keep him mobile in case of damage to his outer layer. His core is located in his lower chest (about stomach area), sealed behind his armor. He has the look of a asiatic soldier in lamellar armor, to us-rounded helmet, armored skirt.

Each of his four arms has five fingers, and can serve a distinct function. The two upper arms are heavier and better armored, and have slots for shields and weapons to be locked in-though he usually must modify them before he can use them properly. The lower arms are smaller and able to use finesse-from left to right, each of his fingers can be converted from a digit into a human sized tool-a wood carving knife, a hammer, a fountain pen, a hatchet, and a screw occupy the left. His right hand has a glowing speak-bulb for illumination, a pnumatic draining device for collecting liquid (which he can store inside his left upper midsection in a airtight drum), a sprayer/injector device (connected to the drum), scissors and a long whestone. Most of them are not designed to be used in combat, as the folding and unfolding mechanisms tend to be delicate and easy to damage-given a few minutes time, they can even be detached and used externally, though is a clunky and time consuming process. These tools allow him to do quick spot repairs to himself in the field, materials permitting, but extensive damage requires a full workshop and lots of time-likewise, if the arms are damaged themselves.

His right upper midsection also has a locked compartment that can be accessed from his back, for storing mundane things.

He has a head, and can display his current emotion via a faceplate, with a simple hand crank in his side turning a flywheel-the emotions of neutrality, anger, happiness or sadness are portrayed in somewhat exaggerated motion. Though he can speak, Dovid can almost communicate in a way through a woodwind whistle in his neck. He sometimes uses this to attract birds or animals.

His creator has also given him the letters 'DO' on his forehead, which glow green to indicate the energy of his spark.
Mental Description: Dovid has the mindset of a male, and is forthright and honest. He prefers to collect things in his spare time. A bird feather, a turtle shell, a strange stone. His creator put into him a sense of wanderlust in him, so he could feel as a living does. His patrols never took him far enough. He often has a sense of being trapped in his form-not unusual, for a Golem of his age. Those who he called friend described him as shy and generally peaceful, like those who made him. Dovid does not really like to fight, despite that's what he's been designed for.

Though his four arms can be a fearsome sight, Dovid as actually quite clumsy and unaware of his own strength-the result of underestimating himself constantly.

Backstory: Dovid was created in a small batch of wooden Golems to defend a mountainous retreat of a non-violent Monk sect. They took time to make them as beautiful and fearsome as possible. He would spend many years here, defending the temple and conversing with his creators on the nature of life, war and time. He was fond of raising the temples flocks of Miglets-small, brightly colored birds that delivered coded messages from place to place. He enjoyed the sounds they made, and eventually constructed a whistle, so he could make their music himself.

As time marched on, the Monks slowly died off. The villagers no longer sent their children to learn wisdom from the old masters, having embraced new Gods. When the last Monks had left or been buried, the Golems were freed from their original mandate.

Dovid promptly went down to the local village and sold himself to a merchant. He didn't know where he would end up...but that was all right.

He promised to live on, and learn, to make his former masters proud of him. Dovid had some pretty big plans...and then there was a flash of light and now he's somewhere he doesn't recognize. Oh hell, a wizard caught him or something, didn't he?

Apparenlty not?

Then again I don't actually read anything I'm not playing so this whole facet of him I could have just completely skipped over.
