Well, despite slight misgivings, I upgraded to chaos upgrade. Seems to have been interesting, as I now have a dragoon as my starter. TO THE FIRE CRYSTAL, FREELANCER STYLE.

Starting job was Black Mage. Went through to Sol Cannon before I upgraded to my expected Zerker. Hopefully my earth crystal job isn't another zerker. I don't wanna quadzerker Neo Exdeath.

Well. Apparently my starting job is Blue Mage. This should make for an interesting run. Even if I don't end up with Beastmaster to learn all of the magic, I should at least have something versatile to play around with.

...

Unless Blue Magic is way worse than I think it is. I didn't play with it much the last couple times I played FFV.

You can get all blue magic without beastmaster, using just the blue mage job, but some of it requires real knowledge of manipulating enemy patterns. As for Blue magic's power level, its basically the best magic.

Yeah, Blue Magic is super duper powerful. Particularly if you're willing to abuse Death By Math.

EDIT: Meanwhile in my run, I grinded for an extra 4 death sickles in W1 while I was maxing out Black Mage because it felt weird to leave W1 still on my Wind job. Well, just go through my first and hopefully only Zerker, and got Ninja for fire job. I can't believe that actually worked out. Now to pray I don't get another zerker for Earth and have to finish the game quadzerking.

Phew. I know that Blue Magic is terrible in one of the Final Fantasies. I just couldn't remember which one. Time to abuse Math for fun and profit then.

Four dual wielding zerkers isn't that bad. Alternatively, if you are really worried, you could just not upgrade maybe? I'm not sure if that is fully allowed.

With the rules we've been given, it's technically allowable to never upgrade to Earth, but that seems not super in the spirit of the challenge. I'll upgrade once I get the last 450 ABP and hope I didn't get the risk.

I evidently misread a chart, and am now freelancing it to earth crystal. I could have sworn dragoon was a fire crystal job.

That'll only apply if you get no pre-Earth jobs from the other three crystals, though.

In other news, I got RAN at wind, got to water for BER, then when I was stuck on Liquid Flame I poked gilgabot for my other two and got BER/BER. Good fiesta, see you guys next year!

I'm doing an upgrade run, so when I unlock the next class, I switch everyone to it. Though ill be a more annoyed if my next one is blue mage.

For what it's worth, you'll have the ranger before doing the bosses a Zerker can't do so that run's somewhat doable.

Technically doable, but not by any means fun.  :-\ Ah well.

Which is harder, 750 or no750?

I am trying to decide which to do for the FJF, as a blind FFV player.

If you've never even played the game before, strong recommendation to do a regular run. The game is one of the harder final fantasy games, and you can easily get a hard job set, even before you restrict it further. If you absolutely must do the hardest run you can, the no750 job pool has more and worse bad job options than the 750 pool. The worst job in 750 is Geomancer, and that's still less bad than half the no750 pool.
