It's a picture of a single part of a cement mill run entirely by advanced logic systems. That is either clinker that has been grinded already or is about to be grinded into fine powder.
So not an automated quarry, then..? ;)

Oh, I'm with you on that one, I just thought you didn't have the best illustration. ;)

(Hmmm... Why am I now thinking of The Last Question???)

Take a sledgehammer to a supercomputer, guess which one will break first :P

Besides, people with lightsabers tend to be telekinetic, and we've seen that telekines in Star Wars are perfectly capable of pulling small, held objects out of people's hands...
The entity behind the screwdriver is a time traveler. Do you know what they're capable of?

I looked for a fully automated Quarry and that picture came up. Looked at the origins of aforementioned picture, it was a cement mill, not a Quarry.
The original point was that it'd be rather silly to compare a sledge hammer to a supercomputer for their ability to crush rocks. And if you wanted to, the supercomputer would still win.

The gulf between the two are of seismic proportions.

I am mildly tickled by the juxtaposition of seismology and the art(?) of rock crushing.  If that was intentional, huzzah!  Otherwise, I'd just like to point out where my mind briefly drifted to, there.

Oh, we're talking fictional sentient supercomputers? Let me get my fictional cuts-through-anything laser sword then  ::)

Last I checked, you were talking about supercomputers that exist today. In real life. Those supercomputers tend to be heavy, relatively immobile, and don't react well to getting smashed.

The entity behind the screwdriver is a time traveler. Do you know what they're capable of?
That exact same argument could be used to cancel the entire series forever.
"Oops, made a minor mistake! Better go back in time and fix it! Well, that went a lot better, and didn't require a half-hour/hour-long episode to take care of!"

The comparison was one of a comparison to a comparison, when the analogy changed so did the comparing analogy.

Last I checked, you were talking about supercomputers that exist today. In real life.
No I wasn't. I was talking about the concept of a hammer and a computer and how people are judging things by hitting them with rocks.

That exact same argument could be used to cancel the entire series forever.

No they covered that too. They spent a whole good chunk of episodes as well on the time war, which was just that - two sides fighting through time itself.
Needless to say if the damage of that could be undone, it would be. But it can't, which is why the argument doesn't exist.
Wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey stuff.

Which always made me wonder why jedi's didn't just run around pulling the weapons out of people's hands. I mean I can understand it not working against another jedi since they could use their force to stop you (though Yoda or Palpatine could still do it), but there's lots of stormtroopers/droids that don't have the force you could do it to,

Because they still have to do the gesture and have a good line of sight.

In the time they take to do the force pull gesture the opponent can get a shot off.

Jedi are more like special units then military ones.

You know technically an automated quarry isn't a super computer, it is just a really big, fancy peripheral. It is like saying Sonic Screwdriver beats light saber because I also have a flame thrower.

Lightsabers loop plasma, not spew it.
Besides, if they could be used that way then the Daleks would be screwed because whatever Time Lord they met could simply shut down their suits with their magical screwdrivers.

Instead the gentlemen time lord relies on more advanced methods, like a rubber mat.

If Pi were exactly '4', I would be in a circular room.

Hmm. 4. Pi is the length of a circle as it relates to a line with it's radius being 1. Now, imagining Circle in which the circle is a square rolling on the floor, with the radius leading to one edge as to create a right angle, each side is therefore 2, leading to a estimated Pi of 8.

Pi would need to be 8 for the room to be circular, assuming the room is square in traditional logic. If, however, the length to which the radii is 1 is in fact a average of the end-points of the square and theis average's distance to the center, it would require further calculation.

IIRC the reason that this doesn't work is because the Daleks have anticipated this and taken countermeasures to sonic technology, not because it isn't possible.

Lightsabers loop plasma, not spew it.
And if you shut down their force fields, they begin spewing.

Besides, if they could be used that way then the Daleks would be screwed because whatever Time Lord they met could simply shut down their suits with their magical screwdrivers.
The doctor built his own screwdriver, so their was likely only ever one sonic screwdriver, more likely so after the time lords all died. The Daleks also constantly adapt [what's left of them anyways] much like the doctor changes his screwdriver, they would have prepared for their only last enemies [the Doctor and stairs].

You know technically an automated quarry isn't a super computer, it is just a really big, fancy peripheral. It is like saying Sonic Screwdriver beats light saber because I also have a flame thrower.
No it's saying the sonic screwdriver is infinitely more useful and powerful than the lightsaber and you keep judging them by their ability to smash rocks.
In which case a rock > all modern electronics.

Well yes, I will agree as a general tool the sonic screwdriver is better. But we are measuring a combat situation. We are taking a very specific example where one tool was narrowly designed for the task, and the other is an all purpose tool. In the given task, the specialized tool wins, even if over all the utility tool is better.

As such, a fight between lightlaber and sonic screwdriver is akin to seeing what smashes rocks better. And yes, when it comes to breaking things a rock is better than a computer.
