Not to say the vids are bad but it would help someone like me who doesn't have much time to sit down and watch an hour and a half to an hour of XCOM/ UFO without getting bored(I prefer Hearts of Iron for my strategy intake, nothing against you) to either:

A. Make a highlights reel and put a full video out of each episode or...

b. Make a highlights reel of important and or funny moments in the vid

Hmm, that's a good suggestion. UFO has a lot of back and forth tactical combat, and that would be nice. However, I know absolutely nothing about video editing except that Microsoft Movie Maker appears to be the worst thing ever. I ah.... will get back to you.

One thing I can do is do a Activity Report in the forums, with a handful of screenshots. it's not a video, but it's also not 50 minutes long :P (Note to self: Get a timer)

EDIT: Thinking about this, I may have an idea. I should try and do "Council Reports" based on a monthly or bi-monthly basis in the game, make them 3-6 minutes long and squeeze the most exciting concepts in. I don't know how to do it yet, but I'll tinker around with WMM. I can't quite buy $100 Adobe Premier Elements as of yet.

Editing could take longer than recording, and probably will if you don't have a clear idea of what you want it to end up like and a clear recollection of what is already there. It may be better to just skip all missions that you have already been through a couple of times, maybe with occasional videos if nothing new has come up and our team has changed appreciably.

Also, I suggest that you save before aliens base missions and quest missions, some of them basically require foreknowledge of the mission in order to avoid losing half your team before they can react...

Hey all! It's been what... three and a half months? Damn, time flies...

Well, life has been spinning in circles and I couldn't get myself to sit down and record. I haven't forgotten it, and been really wanting to get back to it. It's a long game, and even longer series... and there are many Aliens to kill.

And, that time has come! Things are a lot calmer now. Life is busier than ever, but I am certain I will be able to keep recording to completion of at least this one game.

And with that, I bring you Episode 6!

UFO Aftermath Episode 6 - Bloody Welcome

Temporary note: The video's aspect ratio is all wonky on YouTube. It's currently processing the fix.

And well, what a welcome back. I go for a base capture, and things take a bad turn. Twice. I shoot down a tiny UFO, and the Reticulans bring the first taste of their real power.

I've also been reflecting on the request for highlights reel. I don't have the software I would need for editing, and definitely don't have the experience to do it right now. What I might do instead is have a short summary of the episode's events here, in text form with a screenshot or three. Any thoughts?

Also, I've been slacking off on personnel records. No more!

Spoiler: Personnel Records (click to show/hide)

Episode 7 will be ready soon, and I have quite a few soldiers who could use a new name. Let me know if you're interested!

Thanks for sticking with me folks!

Episode 7, Preparations and Chompers

While this ended up being mostly a progression episode, quite a few things have happened. Now that training is done, the soldiers rapidly resolve a mission after a mission, while scientists fill in the blanks on many subjects. Of the many strange things we encounter, we meet the Chrysalis, a Goober and a ridiculous amount of Chompers. The clean-up missions are undertaken to train up the soldiers further, but given that the training usually involves live fire, not everyone makes it back. But towards the end, we are caught up on technology, our missions are doing well... you know what it means? Area 51 next episode!

Spoiler: Personnel Records (click to show/hide)

The video is fairly long at 49 minutes, so I also added some highlights below. No screenshots this time, I will probably include it in future updates.

Just about! Boksi somehow managed to survive from the very beginning of the game. Must be all those heavy weapons...

Note to self: Use more rockets

That said, I suspect you have the highest record on kills. A balance of sniper and throwing skills would definitely see to that. I can't recall whether there is a kill stat, but I will be checking soon.

Hey could i get a character too?

He could be a grenader... with a twist.
He has no weapons other than the dozens of frag grenades in his backpack.
No pistol.
No flares.
No Medpack.

Name: Pineapple Joe (or just Pineapple if its too long)

I'd like to claim a soldier.

Name him Krevsin. Give him a shotgun. Why? Because he is a MAN. Or a woman, either suits me just fine.

Pineapple will join our service in the next episode! I like to think of him as an artistic medic.

Krevsin, the woman that's manlier than most men, is already in service as an assault rifle specialist! She excelled at the base mission below, and could easily be reassigned to shotgun duty due to her fantastic speed. Which would you prefer?

Anyways, here is Episode 8. Well-geared and trained, we turn our eyes to capturing the fabled Area 51 base. When daytime dawns, the troops disembark and fan out...
