Sorry I haven't been posting, guys. I'm in a really tough spot right now and I haven't had access to my computer. It might be that way for a while, so I'm really sorry if I don't post anything for a month or two. >_<

Now the aliens won't.  If you don't post anything for a month or two the council might cancel the XCOM project.  And that would be bad.

It's okay, I'm certain some crazy billionaire will pick up the pieces.

Alright guys, I'm back. I also quit. You wanna know why I quit?
One turn. Everything exploded in one turn. I was going to try and post a gif of said turn but imgur isn't having any of that.
Anyway, I think I might end up turning this into an X-COM: Enemy Unknown LP because at least then I know what the hell I'm doing and the armor actually does something to stop people from dying...

Armour does prevent people from dying in X-COM. It's just that Plasma weapons do large amounts of damage. When Personal Armour has 50 defence from the front, and Plasma Pistols do between 0-120 damage... Still better than nothing though, and Power/Flying Suits are a massive improvement when you get them.

Even then, you can die to a single shot. Or survive 3 shots to the back. The damage tables are funny like that. You just can't ever plan to take a hit and assume you'll live in the original X-COM. I do understand why some people would find it hard to get used to. Not surprised to see this as there's definitely a learning curve even if you have some turn-based tactics background.

Ex-Delta Force Operative "Itnetlolor" re-assigning for duty with X-Com.

I feel the superiors don't appreciate the fact that I keep accidentally gunning down Alpha unit every mission. I'm perfect for X-Com!

Fun Factoid: Playing Delta Force (Up 'til Task Force Dagger), Alpha Unit always got caught in the crossfire where I was involved (usually shot by me), sometimes looking like the enemy and getting shot in the ass. Happened so many times, it's become a bit of a personal running gag. Alphas hate me so much.

[CMD ROBINSON] That's exactly why you should believe me. Do you think it's just coincidence that my absence just happened to coincide with the reduced alien activity?
I think it's more than a coincidence. Which is why I think you should be locked up right now!

Guess what? I'm starting XCOM:EU.
I've never beaten this one, but I've come pretty darn close, and I'm definitely beating it this time. For this game, we get to decide where our one and only base is, and in doing so, decide where our first satellite is launched. Putting our base in certain locations gives us certain bonuses. They are as follows:
North America: Air and Space - All aircraft and aircraft weapons cost 50% less to purchase, build and maintain.
South America: We Have Ways - Instant interrogation and autopsy research.
Europe: Expert Knowledge - Laboraties and workshops cost 50% less to build and maintain.
Asia: Future Combat - Foundry projects and officer training costs 50% less.
Africa: All In - 30% increase in funding.

We can get any of these bonuses later by deploying satellites over the entire continent, but if any country in that continent withdraws from the council, we lose that bonus. The only bonus we keep forever is the one from the continent we start in.

EU sounds like a powerful choice.

Actually, North America would technically save us the most money, and Africa would give us more. Europe is still a good choice, though.
Also, South America is the easiest to get the bonus from during the game, since it's the only continent that only has two council countries. (Meaning we only need two satellites, as opposed to, say, Europe or Asia's four.)
