Arya snuffing the candle.

I think the point of that was that Arya used to be blind, and eventually got so used to it that she beat Waif in stick-fight, while she had full vision. Waif on the other hand wasn't used to fighting in darkness giving Arya the advantage. Of course that's still ignoring the gut-wound, but still, it's some justification for it.

Well Arya was blinded because he killed someone who was not hers to take, so supposing Waif never did that, she wouldn't have been blinded and thus never learned how to fight blind. And a Man seemed to let her walk away without trying to stop her. Well he said something along the lines of "You are No One, now", to which Arya replied: "I'm Arya Stark from Winterfell and I'm going home", and walked away.

She didn't even complete her training, meaning that this was a great waste of time for both Arya and the Faceless Men

Really disappointing episode.  Can only hope they were spending their energy on the final two.

- Lem's a murderous bad guy, for no reason.  Why bother throwing in a POV book character as a sop to book readers, only to turn him into something completely unrecognizable?  I don't have a hard time imagining Lem stooping to stealing food or weapons to further the resistance, but murdering peasants for no reason is just pure BS.
- BWB without a mention or even hint of LSH I think puts a nail in her coffin.  Head-scratcher why they even bothered with the BWB here, knowing fans would get hyped for LSH.  They could've shown Hound murderizing remnants of the Brave Companions to the same effect.  I can only guess that BWB has a role to play later and they are on-screen to keep viewers reminded they exist.
- was Arya stabbed in the gut like five times and a knife twist, or was she just tickled vigorously?  Good thing they reminded us which, right before the show started!  A gut wound (or 5) is normally a death sentence by infection, so it's already a stretch to imagine her surviving that without a maester, but running and leaping and swordfighting, with a gut wound and all drugged up?  Come on.  The candle-swish ending might've worked if everything up to that point had been earned, but it was just a long string of lazy bullshit.  (and jesus Robb, you were only stabbed in the gut once, what's your excuse?)
- completely agree with Ruludos re: Blackfish.  What was the damn point of this whole series of scenes, and what a crappy way to end his character.  I think for me the scene that summed up this whole sloppy arc was Brienne and Podrick escaping down a creek when Riverrun I sort of imagine for some reason sits on a river.

More incoherence:
- Jaime agreeing to Brienne's request to have Blackfish and Tully army to leave and head north is crazy.  I knew it sounded fishy (haha get it? Tully's? never mind) but didn't think it through at the time.  It makes no sense.  Any army going North from the Riverlands has to go through the Twins, aka the Freys.  I can only imagine that scene.  It's one thing to turn against an ally in the North (particularly if he knows anything about Ramsay), but losing the Freys in the bargain would be a disaster.  Friendly control of the Riverlands is critical to the Lannisters, Riverrun sits right between Lannisport and King's Landing.  Maybe Jaime was agreeing knowing that he was making no promises on the Frey's behalf but seems doubtful.

So Arya gets stabbed a bunch of times, gets drugged up on morphine, and still somehow managed to parkour like Altair.

Hounds 'fight' at the start must've been the worst choreographed fights on TV I've ever seen.
1. He just marches up behind a guy whilst the others see him but don't even utter a word or go for a weapon.
2. They then stand perfectly motionless whilst the Hound takes big axe swings at them.

Atleast his "you're really shit at dying" line made me laugh.

Anyone else got a T-1000 vibe from the waif? it seemed to me like the actress copied his stare and the way he runs.

The BWB explicitly said they were going north to fight the White Walkers in this episode. That would be why they were there.

Ah, I couldn't hear some of the BWB dialogue, missed that.  Fair enough, I don't see it really adding much to the story though.  Did they say how they even knew about the White Walkers?  It's one thing for the Mormonts to hear it and believe it but this is south of the Neck, I imagined Jon was going to encounter a hell of a lot more resistance spreading the word and convincing Westeros of the threat.  I suppose Thoros and campfire-vision.
