Well it's something at least. Draco is a little dead. :C

Only two people to greet me IC, no forum activity. At the very least, my corner of the galaxy is entirely unexploited in terms of mercantilism--maybe I can carve my path to the top.

Hah, mercantilism. Good luck with that one. I'd recommend picking up religion if you really want to reach the top. You need another income generating sphere to give you the cash to establish mysticism though.

Well I'm tracking all the resource price points of my local planet cluster in a spreadsheet, so I'm on track for three very profitable trade routes. I'm just feeling things out.

and upon examining what my predicted monthly profit is, a lot more.

If you're up for it, that's great. Mercantilism is way too much work for me personally, major timesink. But really, Myst is the key to dominance. Tax Free, super lucrative, and it's very hard to take over your markets once you've established yourself. Believe me, I know, since I've making very long-term plots to take out Boehm and Fealoke. It might be RL years before I manage it. Yeah, I'm probably never gonna play that long.

I can understand that, but given how slowing moving this game is a major timesink is perfect to pass the time.

Also I'd much rather play the kingmaker with the added bonus of being able to destroy galactic economy than be on top.

???  Mercantile? Destroy the galactic economy? What, you mean manipulate prices to cripple other peoples incomes? If they're apathetic enough to let you get away with that, then you've already won. I've razed planets to the ground for daring to compete with me in my markets. Someone destroying the markets themselves? You'd be lucky if the worst you had to deal with was piracy on every planet, and I hear piracy cuts into mercantile profits something fierce.

Then there's plagues, and you needing to shut down lucrative routes if you don't want facs destroyed for violating quarantine, changing prices, etc.

I started this and was so, so super psyched for it but it was wayyyy too dead for me. I think its the kind of thing that needs a good few hundred, active RP players for it to work out and it just doesn't have that userbase. I talked to a few people on it and they didn't really seem interested in hardcore RPing it and were more just into sort of...well I'm not sure really.

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

You're kind of right yeah. I was hoping to get some people who actually rp interestingly, which is why I necroed this thread. There's only really one awesome RPer in Baade, and that's Ingram. The man has talent I tell you.

I've personally set up a long-term rp plan for myself, that I'm slowly carrying out, and revealing to the other players in the process. No response yet, but I'm hoping for something as it becomes more and more obvious what I'm doing. Of course, my power is going to have to increase before I carry out my endgame (become god-empress), but I'm having a lot of fun just plotting out my rise to power.

I also love RPing in such an environment. I'm a little disappointed that the GM won't allow us to choose galaxies.

I'd be half way tempted to join back in if I knew I wouldn't wind up in a entirely dead galaxy. Which has happened the last two times I have gotten into this.

I'm almost tempted to say that we should all just make alt accounts till we end up in the same galaxy. At least that way we could make something interesting happen. :P

I actually rejoined the game in hopes I'd end up in a dead galaxy and could then rule over the ruins, but ended up in Baade instead and decided to roll with it.

I'll probably stick with IN for a while, but are there any games like it??? Preferably not so dead. (I despise Battlemaster btw)

Not that I know. IN2 seems like it won't ever be realized (despite even entering beta testing iirc), but I think some of the fans are working on a spiritual successor (not even alpha stage yet to the best of my knowledge)

How is my good old Draco doing? Have my reforms had any effect at all? Did they bring back some stability and order?-propably not :P

Too stable and too orderly!

Come back and play!
