((The Loyalty Probe is currently in passive mode, trying to fight your rebelling subconscious.

You are currently you you, not easily controlled, submissive loyalty-slave you.))

((The mimic thing was also a bit of a demonstration of defiance.
As for combat role, I would like to suggest the equivalent of a combat engineer. The sort of role that deals with minefields, breaching fortresses, fording rivers... In a futuristic battlefield it would probably involve a lot of electronic warfare...))

Just meditate on the loyalty probe for a bit longer, the alien can wait...

You continue to concentrate on inhibiting the probe, but you continue to lose ground. You can feel your rebellious and fiery nature being tempered by the probe. It is becoming harder and harder to resist. Fortunately for you, you still manage to resist, if only by the skin of your teeth.

You hear Ala-Shar laughing. "Oh the poor girl. She thinks she can overpower the probe. Judging by these screens, you are putting up a valiant, if ill fated, fight." You hear her walk around to your other side. She leans over. "You know, it is rude to ignore someone who asked something of you....."

You open your eyes and look at her.

"I'm willing to choose a role. What are my options?" You ask, trying to infuse your words with as much venom as you can.

The scientist beams, obviously taking this as a sign of her impending victory.

"You have several options.

The lighter roles consist of Infiltrators, scouts, light assault and weapon and vehicle crews, although the last two are only available to Ethnic Morey.

The support roles consist of medical, logistical, engineering and main command roles. Although it is not unheard of for vat-born to take roles here, they are almost predominantly Morey.

The main line roles, recommended for vat-born subjects, would be heavy assault, heavy support, field combat medics, combat engineers, field command and long range specialists."

Once she finished rattling off the list, she turns towards you again.

"Which would you like to know more about?".

speak weakly so she comes closer then spit/bite her.

You speak quietly. Ala-Shar leans in, however she dodges away at the last minute as you try to bite her.

"Dear, it is fruitless to resist. No matter. I shall come by again in a while, hopefully the probe will have done its work...." She doesnt seem disappointed, more amused.

With her assistant following her, she leaves the room, beginning to hum a little tune. You wonder why she is in such a good mood.

Ari works quietly on the consoles, watching and making sure your body is reacting well to the treatment.

Free from intrusions, you continue to fight the probe. Luckily you manage to push it back. However it comes on again unexpectedly, and again you manage to bat it back. This continues for what you believe to be half an hour. Finally, the probe lets out a huge mental offensive. You think someone must be actively controlling it.

Your mind and willpower pound and shake under the assault, but it holds, for now. You seem to be getting some headway counterattacking, but it backs off, reforms and attacks again. With your mental power lured forward, you are taken by surprise and pushed back.

You can feel your mental defences fracturing and buckling under the assault. You feel light headed. You muster the last of your energy for one final push and manage to stop the probe gaining complete control. You do, however, have a permanent and strong feeling of loyalty to the Matriarchy now. You are disgusted to find that whenever you think of going against orders or the Matriarchy in any way, you get a distinct sense of guilt, sadness, shame and fright. You feel ashamed of yourself for feeling these feelings.

You open your eyes. Panting heavily you ask Ari for some water. She takes a metal flask from what must be some sort of table behind your bench and holds it to your lips. You drink deeply.

What do you do?

Status:
Confused, tired, out of breath, headache.
Frustrated, angry and fearful.
Jumbled thoughts and warring mental factions.
Ashamed of self for almost losing internal war.
Strapped to some type of medical or scientific analysis machine.

Condition:
Physically Healthy, mentally stabalising.

Inventory
Full body white skintight suit.
White Mid-Shin high boots.
White Skin tight tech-gloves.

((OOC: Bad luck on some of those rolls. If your continued 5's and 6's, which you had at the start, continued, you might have suppressed the probe permanently.))

It seems like we're not going to be released until we demonstrate our unflinching loyalty to the Morey cause (outwardly, at least). See if we can feign submission. Ask to sign up as a scout. We can deal with the probe later.

Rest and restore our mental powers, it sounds like we are strapped to some kind of mind control enforcement machine.

Just remember we are not B7-0001 and we will never be B7-0001 because are now the cobra.
yes my plan is to form a mental split personality to feign submission and evaded the probe.

Ask about combat engineers and scout roles.
(im for a scout role and then throwing down are weapon defecting as soon as we meet some Vanguard)

Hrmmm, we are losing mental resources. The obvious thing would be anger, but that tends to be focused, best to get a clear sense of methodically destroying its influence before going all-out rage. Otherwise it could probably distract us to spend all our time focusing on our will and freedom while it is free to play around with our self-image... Probably best to use anger defensively, some sort of "There is no way I will let them kill of the last of my mind!" sort of thing. Call in our peripheries to assault the probe. Things like career ambitions, maternal instinct, love for chocolate, racism, sexism, and sense of justice should all me easily directed to opposing the intrusion...

Ok, we're losing this war, time to burn the territory: Start to permanently cripple your mental faculties as much as possible, driving yourself to drooling, useless insanity.

Driving ourselves to insanity might work, but then again it might not. The probe would likely find easy pickings of our mental fragments if they ever recovered...

Still panting, and feeling like something a cat threw up, you ask Ari to call Ala-Shar back into the room. You tell her that you have seen that resistance is futile and you wish to sknow more about the role of a scout. You tell her that you reserve the choice of a new name for later.

After a short while, the head scientist comes striding proudly into the room. She takes one look at you, smiles, and pats your head. "Good girl. I knew you would come round to my way fo thinking eventually".

"Now, what is it you wanted to ask about? Was it just the role of scout? or were there other things?"

Things like career ambitions, maternal instinct, love for chocolate, racism, sexism, and sense of justice should all me easily directed to opposing the intrusion...

As Ala-Shar was talking, you try to relax your mental powers and stores as far as they can go without releasing the currently contained probe. You also concentrate, building an internal persona you hope to use against the probe should it again assault your psyche. You call her 'The Cobra', a ruthless being you hope to use, to become, should your mind and personality ever come under attack again. You refuse to call yourself B7-0001. To fuel this new internal creation, you draw upon all of your feelings and give the probe an ultimatum. 'There is no way i will let you or them kill the last of my independence, the last of my personality!' You scream in your head.

It is then you realise that Ala-Shar is waiting patiently for your questions. 'Better not take too long. If I'm going to pull this feigned loyalty off, i need to make sure i dont give out any signs that i am still against their cause...' You think to yourself.

"My leader..." You have to stop yourself flinching when saying that. "I would like to know more about the Scout and Combat Engineer roles. They interest me the most." You look up into Ala-Shar's face, using what you hope is a submissive and shy expression. Out the corner of your eye, you can see Ari. She looks like she is holding back tears. You think it must be hard seeing someone apparently broken, their will bent to their new masters plans. You wonder how many times she has seen this happen.

Ok, we're losing this war, time to burn the territory: Start to permanently cripple your mental faculties as much as possible, driving yourself to drooling, useless insanity.

As Ala-Shar gets ready for her answer, tapping on a wafer thin pad her assistant gave her, you let part of your more volatile subconscious attempt to employ scorched earth tactics against the probe. It doesn't work. It seems that either the probe, something else or your own body wont let you intentionally drive yourself to insanity. 'Now thats a thought....' You think to yourself.

"My leader, aside from the loyalty probe, are there any other important additions to my body that i should know about?".

_____________________________________________

Ala-Shar continues tapping icons on the tablet, quickly finishing.

"Other additions? Well, lets see you have the loyalty probe, as you well know from your...hehe...little struggle. You also have seventh generation biological nano-machines reverse engineered from the Vanguard corpses flowing through your veins, waiting for input; their other role is to reinforce your bones, muscles, tendons, organs and other important parts of your body. Thirdly, there is a communications array and a C&C array, both nano-scale, implanted into your brain and finally there is the multi-range optics Ari told you about earlier. Depending on which role you choose, there will be other additions." She turns, picks up the tablet, and faces you again. "I need this as even i forget what each of the roles is. I'm a busy woman, you know."

Tapping once on the tablet, she continues:

"A scout is our recon specialist, the eyes and ears of any formation. Sometimes they will be working in groups, other times alone, sometimes on foot and other times in light vehicles or light armoured warmachines. They have access to our latest optical, detection, satellite and communications technology. They are also long range support specialists. They wear lighter armour due to their more mobile nature. Both their armour and skin, once it has had the adequate enhancements, will be able to make use of active camouflage to blend in to their surroundings, whilst masking their scent, thermals and magnetic markers. Their weapons, at present, include a small variety of arms, ranging from gauss and mag-cel handguns to plasma, laser and mass-driver rifles."

"On the other hand, there is the combat engineer. They lead an offensive, alongside the light and heavy assault troops. They are demolition as well as engineering experts, whose role is to crush enemy fortifications, build and reinforce our own and field repair vehicles and/or equipment. They are the specialised force needed against heavily dug in enemies. They work mostly with the heavy assault troops and heavy support. Their armour is some of the heaviest, as they need to be in the thick of the fighting and have enough room to carry all their equipment. Their weapons are also much more substantial than the scouts. Sometimes they use mass-driver automatic weapons, but usually they are equipped with Hyper-laser or plasma weaponry, to pack an extra punch, and also as an attempt to match our enemies."

She takes a deep breath. "Any questions?".
