Oh hey, I found out how to do the actual dual-wielding attacks.
Well now this seems more useful to me.

Eh, sorry, figured I was the only one who still had stuff to figure out, :P
AS IT TURNS OUT, I really have no freaking idea how dual-wielding works at all.
It only seems to work with select combinations of weapons. The only ones that I've discovered so far are 2 Broken swords, or a Hand Axe and Broken Sword.
To turn on dual-wielding, have both weapons equipped, then hold Y. If you can dual-wield, your character should change his/her stance slightly, and your left hand attack buttons should do the fancy attacks.

I've heard that the weapons need to have similar attacks to get the special dual-wielding mode. A dagger and a spear probably wouldn't work. You also need 150% the skill requirements of each weapon to do it.

Ahah, that would explain why I can't dual-wield my maces properly yet, even if everything just dies with me derp swinging them.
I made a cleric because I was sick of banging my head against that large metal humanoid wall with a big sword that floats.
Wow.
Like.
The starting robe has amazing stats, the mace is a good weapon, and having access to Heal effectively gives you access to 3 free heals per bonfire, and 6 if you buy Heal at the hag trader.

Also, a little tip, if you people want to find an Estus Shard really easy.

From what I know, in order to make dual wielding viable, you first need to have at least 150% of each of your weapons' stats, and even then, they must be the same type of weapon. Not just simply Sword+Sword, but, say, a slashing weapon with a slashing weapon, for example.

Spoilers of second boss and slightly after it.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

ALSO: Did some testing with dual-wielding, and I'm not liking the dual-attacks at all. They're slow, it's hard to hit with both weapons, takes tons of stamina, and the damage is less than just hitting twice normally. The only time I see it being useful, at least with dual maces/axes, is if you had a lot of enemies in a wide angle in front of you.

EDIT: Also, are there ever any dedicated sorcery/miracle vendors in the game? Don't tell me exactly when and how, I just want to know if they're there.

ok, know the tower with the big big knights right off of the starting area? that place you travelled to by crow is like 3 areas past that, so its pretty far along. i just messed around to get the free swag and talk to the nice pirate lady. dont bother with the boss there yet

Sure is responding to spoilers outside of a spoilers tag.

As an aside, I've found co-op gets you souls pretty fast.  If you need some, get ye a white soapstone and punch some guys on behalf of others.

sorry about that. im awful at using this word processor, thats why i try to be a vague as possible, while still pointing in the right direction. and....its not really spoiling anything. the game is largely non-linear in nature

Speaking for myself and others, I believe: Some people want to explore the game themselves. Knowing that there is the pirate boss in the dungeon with the giant sheep or whatever the crap the game has to throw at the player would ruin some of the !!FUN!! about that magical first run, but knowing about the fact that enemies can be extincted like in Nethack is just helpful mechanics stuff. This is why spoilers are appreciated, at the very least until the PC version comes out, since a couple of people won't be getting the game until then.

EDIT: There's a high chance I'm misunderstanding why other people don't want spoilers. Either way, I think my points still stand. Sorry for anybody I misrepresent, though.

It is funny because Darksouls 1 and 2 are "Spoilers the game!"

Bump because question:
Does reinforcing a sorcery catalyst buff sorcery damage?
Knowing this before blowing what little titanite I have is key, :P
