I replaced the dagger/crossbow combo with just a sword/shield, because someone superfast and tough like The Master is far more effective up close (able to block 10 arrows in a row with ease, and shrug off any that happen to hit him). Though I've discovered from playing further that Wolfram is a pretty bad substance for swords, but The Master makes good use of it by wielding the Wolfram Long Sword like a hammer and bludgeoning people to death with it. I'd recommend that fancy Mithril Kris we got from the elves instead.

They can get lovely waterfall thoughts from sitting in the chairs next to the windows and getting mist blown on them. Though I hadn't considered extending the meeting hall outward using grates to let the waterfall through, that's a mighty fine idea. I'd suggest making two hallways that extend outward and lead into the other sides of the canyon.

Aww, but that would mean no more buttockshots! Oh well :P
The 'windows' to the waterfall are a brilliant idea! I didn't know you could do that.

I've discovered a way we can both win. It seems that the "Spring-Loaded Knife," while functioning like a crossbow that shoots "Knife Blades," also behaves like a regular dagger when used in combat. Ditto for Hammer Slings/Hammer Heads (which The Master would be very skilled at using), and Spear Throwers/Throwing Spears.
On that note, requesting a Steel/Mithril Spear Thrower for Spish. His squadmates are already equipped with Throwing Spears, anyway, so it shouldn't be too hard to set up the Wraithlike Spears as an all-ranged squad.

Update on some unclaimed dwarves:

I took a look at your save file, and instantly a landmine trapped in the moat blew up. Restarted the save, never happened again. I even checked for ambushers through dfhack, and there was nothing! Freak accident, or something far more sinister?

Well, Kor Osmasos technically survived blowing himself up the first time and has been chilling in the moat ever since (Moldath doesn't know that though).

I forgot to mention the numerous lever-operated bridges, the cliff tunnel, the danger room, the dam, repurposing the "burial grounds" as a farm, the zombie army, and the well-reservoir that is filled by fountain directly via the waterfall. :P

Careful with the danger room.  Masterwork makes training spears randomly deadly, even to armored dwarves.

I'm going to try to get a move-on with this fortress. The others went on a bit of a hiatus, but the rush to complete them died down.

Does this use the steam engines mod? Because then I'll need to use the DFhacked version.

Edit: It does, and I can work them on Mac now! In other news, the FPS is really slow... 25 or 26?

I'm also seeing ice walls. Not merely iced up river, but !!WALLS OF ICE!! The river or stream branch to the south seems to have been completely cut off, no idea why. It looks to me like a bug... or someone hacked in some soil to block that off, and then unrevealed the area. Curious.

I am unable to locate a trade depot. Despite not having lost any dwarves, the population of 15 is a little low.

Did you read any of the previous turns? (mine is on the previous page, in case you missed it) The river had a bug that was causing it to flow backwards and flood.

I'm beginning to think we might also be bugged to not get migrants. We got one migrant wave in the first turn, and then absolutely nothing after that. GChristopher's doing perhaps?

Edit: There's a depot being constructed at the top left corner of the moat'd courtyard.

Shouldn't be anything to do with GChristopher, as the game as I played it had no further modding applied to it (other than MWDF).

Perhaps no one wants to migrate to our undeath-cult hellhole.  MWDF includes slaves that you can buy from caravans to bolster your population.  I think the drow sell them.  Do we have drow neighbors?

I didn't select concubines to be enabled in the MWDF settings when I genned the world, so that's not an option sadly.
