There's no rule against it, it may simply seem... well, unfair, even in an arena game. I.e. while the players do trust the GM not to fix the rolls or do any similar stunts, the GM having their own character compete on the same level as them might invoke just a little extra suspicion, however unwarranted it may be.

Nope, yep, nope.

Though I've been thinking of adding in power ups (including healing) for the next tournament and beyond that pop up in squares. Maybe would give the long range characters a better instinctive to move.
