Welp.
http://www.npr.org/blogs/alltechconsidered/2014/10/04/353702104/intel-pulls-ads-from-gaming-site-amid-gamergate-debate

Intel is pulling its ad campaign from Gamasutra due to the ongoing gaming-journalism-related debacle that shall not be named. Gamasutra appears to have alienated enough gamers that people started mass-emailing advertisers on the site, and, of course, gamers are part of Intel's customer base.

Good move from Intel...

I wouldn't want to be associated with this cluster cluck either.

Also I've been putting off the whole "watching the video on excessive masculinity and closer look on the detractment article" mostly cause I am lazy.

Are they into football, or are they into shirtless footballers?

Ok ok I have to ask.

What is offensive about liking and admiring people because they are attractive in a "from a distance" sort of way?

I need a better perspective here.

First Wave Feminism: Women are human beings that deserve the vote!

Second Wave Feminism: Women should be judged socially and professionally at the same standards of men! Sexual liberty, equal pay!

Third Wave Feminism: ...thus door knobs are an inherently phallic symbol that describes the patriarchies captialization of opening doors; that every women is required to undergo the psuedosexual action of the manual sexual stimulation of the quasi phallic symbol of the door knob only furthers to demostrate the overt sexism and dominance of the women; even forks and spoons carry the traits of the phallus, and thereby are an engineering attempt to capitalize on the violent and suppressive tendancies...

As for Sarky, by her standards To Kill a Mockingbird is racist because it features racist themes. She has done more damage to legitimate feminism ( the pursuit of equality ) then any other human being in the last ~200 years. She is a moron.

I don't exactly agree with you k33n but its fair criticism of her work. After all many of her videos indicate that she has issues with victimization and makes no exceptions to that rule.

As for Third Wave... I wish I kept my book but it actually listed and broke down many of the forms of feminism. What you speak of was that weird form of Feminism that believes that even the way the English language is structured is inherently sexist.

So I think what you describe isn't typical of third wave, but is what seems to get the most attention.

Marxist Feminism which prime tenants is that allowing women to have equal pay and opportunity for work would improve the economy, is a third wave that rather grounded.

But I think the important thing to remember is you don't HAVE to accept all forms of feminism, you don't have to agree with everything feminism says, nor are you sexist because you don't agree with it. As such it doesn't matter what it really says.

What I find interesting about Feminism as a social construct is that it is incredibly loaded. Modern Feminism acts like an Ideology exactly like Conservatism, Liberalism, and Socialism and all those and is just as politically charged. Yet Feminism also blends into the sciences and is allowed to do so unlike other ideologies (there is no Conservative Science courses to my knowledge). It is also a philosophy with its own depictions of what is right or wrong in everyday life and many forms of Feminism outright disagree with each other based on this. Yet also it has been said that if you agree with equality for women that you are feminism (Mind you, this isn't common). As well it is also a "movement" or advocacy (this is the definition the dictionary uses), you are feminist if you advocate women's rights or at least do so while calling yourself feminist.

The 'Conservative Science' equivalent is stuff like Bible Studies.

I thought it was economics. I heard from one studying the topic they didn't discuss anything but free market stuff.

Depends on the type aspect of conservatism.  "Conservative" is used to describe a ridiculous number of unrelated ideals.

I think it's more that in a free market economy everything is (ideally) controlled by economic forces, so it's better to use as an example. Obviously in a completely planned economy you wouldn't exactly have a lot to be looking at. And in mixed economies you can treat a lot of the government measures as just being like any other market force.

Define 'free market'. Economics in general is the study of decisionmaking under budget constraints. Sure, you do the state- and monopoly-free market first because it's easy, but even beginner's classes soon move on to government interventions and market failures.
They don't do gift economies and other such things, of course. Mostly because these are a) often ill-defined concepts, b) mostly not relevant in real life, and c) usually more closely related to other fields such as sociology and political science.

[Sarkeesian] has done more damage to legitimate feminism ( the pursuit of equality ) then any other human being in the last ~200 years.

Surely even you can agree that that might be a slight exaggeration, no?

Well truthfully how does one measure "damage to legitimate feminism"?

How many people can you even vaguely reference that even apply?

"Legitimate feminism" is a weird concept.

Not so weird.  Consider the few self-labelled "feminists" who think women should have all the power.  Is it useful to consider that a legitimate part of the feminist movement?  No, it discredits the movement, and dilutes the message - contradicts, really.  Legitimate feminists don't owe anything to people who try to piggy-back unrelated or absurd ideas on the movement's success.

That's still definably "feminism", though. As in, furthering women's rights, even if it furthers them beyond equality.
