You close with the nearest soldier and separate his sword arm from his body, and he falls to the ground clutching the stump and screaming, only to be cut off when one of your footmen plunges a spear into his chest. The battle continues and you fell many a foe. The barbarians are on the back foot and their casualties are slowly mounting despite the cost to your own forces.

You suddenly realise that your squire is not at your side, and it occurs to you that she likely fell behind when you made your charge. You wade amongst the mass of writhing bodies, carving through any barbarians that stand in your way in your increasingly frantic search for Mavro.

You hear a deafening CHUNKA - CHUNKA - CHUNKA, and in the very next instant all you can see through the thick red mist thrown up is the lower halves of your men, bits of guts and bone protruding from them where their upper bodies would have been attached. The clamour of battle dies and all attention focuses on the hulking metal giant striding toward you from the centre of camp. A hoarse cry goes up as a single man shouts, Argo-o-os! The sound of shouting and struggle floods back as your foot soldiers fight to escape. They slash and stab barbarians and fellow mercenaries alike as they break and run for the trees. You hear the automaton's triple-barreled howitzer whir as it slowly spins, sending round after round flying after your retreating forces. The shells burst among the fleeing men, slaughtering all but a few lucky survivors. In but seconds all that remains of your army is the scattered groups of knights that survived the first volley. They stare at the looming beast of steel, bristling with weaponry, and slowly stepping away from its menacing profile. The moment is made all the more dramatic as it is silhouetted against the horizon by the setting sun, and light gleams dully off of its pocked and scarred armoured plates.

Welp, if mavro's survived this long, hopefully she can continue to take care of herself. Pressing matter: Weak spots! Are there any? (hoses, wires, low-hanging joints, view ports, etc)
Any lances/rs nearby?
(still keep an eye out for mav, but focusing on the automaton (or mecha, more likely) is probably the best thing for our survivability atm)

This mountain we're wearing: I wish we weren't.

Look for weak points and try surrounding it.  Also keep an eye out for Mav.  Retreat may become the best option if we find her.  We really weren't prepared for something like this.

I get that this thing is intimidating but how was it enough to make our scout go comatose?

Well, is it 15 feet tall or 30? Family nearby?
Maybe...they have something else?

I dunno about trying to surround it- it's an anti-knight weapon platform, (apparently anti-everything), and trying to rally the disparate & shell-shocked groups of knights will likely waste valuable time. Further, it's designed to be used against groups, not single combatants. We gotta try and take this thing out solo, if at all. If we can get a lancer grenade, and we can reach a joint, and we can do this without being seen and murderized...
Maybe we should remove our armor so we can dodge & sprint? How's the colossus' agility/vision?

Along with the weakpoints, make a quick evaluation of the heavyness of the chassis, and if there is a cockpit observe where the glass ends & the metal frame starts.--hopefully without taking a full turn in doing so..

Sir Kelarn looks in disappointment as his men flee, the knights and footmen both. Under his helm, his face sets. This thing killed far too many of his men. His officers. They trusted him. And this...thing, mowed them down like wheat. The knight raises his shield, lifts his blade, and starts jogging forwards, keeping as much of his body as possible behind the powerful shield. The shrapnel couldn't hurt him. A direct hit might. As the shells blossomed into flame against his shield, he felt his arm vibrate with the impact, but he continued forwards, gritting his teeth as the shield warped under the strain. "Surround it! Keep the bloody Litelachians off of me, and kill it if you can! A reward for the man who disables it!" he called out, pushing forward all the time.

This weapon is a twenty and a half foot tall bipedal support Automaton manufactured in Kiltra. It has a heavy tri-barrel howitzer mounted on one shoulder, and a single traversable arm with four medium auto rifles hanging from it, both of which have more than enough firepower to tear through any armour most knights could wear instantaneously, including what you're wearing now. Its frontal armour is impenetrable to even fortress-class field guns, though the sheer force of impact would still be enough to shake the much less durable leg gyros to pieces, and its rating is excellent for being a medium Maton. As it is a support vehicle, obviously the frontal focused armour is ideal for protecting it from long-range, heavy fire. Thus its side and rear armour is thin, leaving its joints, power plant, fuel and ammo magazines extremely exposed and vulnerable to flanking attacks.

You glance around for any fallen lancers. One lies dead nearby, his throat slashed open. His belt still has several lancets (thats what I'm calling the grenades/lance tips from now on) hanging from it, and the weapon itself lies unused at his side.

He was just very surprised, and terrified (these are Kiltran secret weapons after all), then once he had realised he had been discovered, he just..gave up. Also, ask the next Oceanian you meet what Argos means.

We shall.

Quickly, use a short blade to cut off our heavy armor, we're going to need speed and agility, and fast. Rush to the lancer & retrieve his belt & lance, (if it's still armed).

I hope what's left of our men can hang in there until we disable this thing. This day's gotten somewhat worse.

Sprint to the Maton, trying to keep to the side and exploiting the poor fortunes of our men to avoid detection. If lancets are explode-on-contact, hurl a couple at whatever exposed machinery is on the back of the Maton, and then drive the lance as deeply into a leg joint as we possibly can. Dodge the debris.
If they're timed, only throw the lancets if there is machinery which could 'catch' them.

...

You can't cut off armor.

It's made so that can't work.

That's the point.

Anyway. We should probably get to the lancer, pick up the weapon. Use our kite shield to defend ourselves as best we can(deflecting projectiles is better than blocking them), while we try and get around him, while we call for our allies to help flank him.

No, no, thats plausible. You have straps holding them in place, though they're in places where they can't easily be cut during combat, but obviously you'd know how to reach them if you needed to take it off in a hurry. You could stick a blade between the plates and cut it loose, but your longsword is too unwieldy for that. You could spend a few seconds trying to find a knife on a dead soldier, but you increase your risk of being blown to pieces.

If the greaves/poleyns/cuisses/tassets can be cut off with a sword, do that first- otherwise find a knife,(shouldn't be hard, mainhanders would be small enough). Can we break our sword to get a cutting edge small enough?
