Maybe we can 'possess' it as some form of avatar?
Yes, Possess it!
Also, find/inquire that guy that had obsidian; tell him we need some for a place of worship

Extra updates, yeah!

Disheartened by the lack of life in your creation, you leave for the town. Inquiring about stocks of supplies for your temple, you discover that the people have small stocks of both rosewood and obsidian, along with a small supply of metal ores and incense. There should be enough supplies to build a nice shrine for yourself, although it may take some time to build. The first order of business, however, is to decide where to build your place of worship. There is an area you could probably clear of buildings on the western outskirts of the village. With some convincing, you might be able to use the site of Karalis' temple to build your own. Finally, there is a hill about a mile from your settlement that could serve as a good site.

You spend a few hours watching over your subjects as they work. The smith and carpenter are busy constructing spears and shields to arm the people with. There are eight militia troops patrolling in pairs around the settlement. Several other villagers are rolling old plowshares into place on the main road to form a barricade.

You decide to check back on the statue. The stone seems a little darker than when you created it earlier in the day. Maybe if you use some magic to try and manipulate the statue...
You pour your remaining mana into magic aimed at cloaking the statue in darkness and attempting to animate it. Your magic flares briefly, then abruptly dies. -8 Mana. Hmm... You send out a tendril of your consciousness to probe the object. Perhaps if you could possess it... The statue seems to suck you in as you draw closer to it. You recoil from the contact, but you feel the brush of something against you before you draw back. It seemed almost like a trace of consciousness, but less restrained than an ordered mind. The feeling is unnerving.

You have no mana! You'll have to wait until dawn before you can cause more miracles.

Let's chat with individual villagers. Find out how they're doing emotionally and such.

You resolve to have a staring contest with the statue, but first you must check up on your village and see what they need you to do.
Well, what would you have us tell you, Lord? We need warriors. We need fortifications. We need weapons and armor. But above all we need money to fund all of this. That's our real limiting factor here. We'll do our best to use what we have, but if we want proper defenses we'll need additional funds.
Having talked with your followers, you go back to the statue and stare at it long into the night. The grisly monument is nearly pure black and lies in a field of brown, dry, dead grass. It watches you with hard stone eyes as you gaze at it. Neither of you blinking, you stare at each other long into the night. The contest is fierce, and you fight hard against that fierce gaze. Many times, you nearly turn away, but you keep pressing through the dark. At about midnight, a loud cracking echoes through the clearing. As you watch, the pitch apparition crumbles before your gaze and collapses into eight roughly equal sized pieces. As the night continues, the chunks of masonry lose their shapes and form into amorphous masses, which begin to lighten in color. The grass in the clearing turns gray and begins to crumble into dust. As dawn approaches, the eight lumps of masonry grow and change into eight dark gray figures about three feet high. As the sun touches the sky and mana flows into you, you behold eight new feline creatures. The Umbral Stalkers rise.

It's a little known fact that staring contests solve problems. Don't expect such a fast reproduction rate next time you do it, though, without the benefit of all that mana it sucked up.

We shoulda told them that if they wanted soldiers maybe they shoulda let us improve some of them so they could fight.
Well I say we pump our mana into fortifications.  Living walls of thorns and the like.  Maybe make a cordyceps like fungus that can infect those who come into contact with it, and use the turned people as shock troopers.
Also, we need to modify some earth worms into sand worms.  Except they're in dirt.

Guys.

They need money.

We are a God of Life, Force, and Darkness. Don't you think we could help them make money?
Maybe we could create Lorim Beans, which can be ground into Lorimrean Instant Darkness Powder. That should sell.

Defenses first then money.

That reflective wall suggestion I made earlier will probably help.
