I remember being put on trial and getting away free because the judge was a space ninja. Best friends with the captain, but best friends with me too because I gave him the research levels he needed.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Haha, I remember that. I was the space ninja and I was trying to peacefully complete my objective. I convinced the captain to let me be the judge because I was the only impartial person on the station.

I guess being biased towards everyone makes you impartial :P

There's finally a way to fix the delayed "bug" in the lobby:
Observe, become mouse, vote restart.
Mice count as alive and can therefore vote, I suppose, not entirely sure.

So does being biased against everybody, but I think that's the definition of a hanging judge.

The Warrior's bland acronym, MMI, obscures the true horror of this monstrosity. Its inventors promise a new era of genius, but meanwhile unscrupulous power brokers use its forcible installation to violate the sanctity of unwilling human minds. They are creating their own private army of demons.
— Comissioner Pravin Lal, "Report on Human Rights" (Accompanies discovery of the "Mind-Machine Interface" tech)
Holy shit. Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri made the MMI.

Industrial Grade Nano-Paste, one of Planet's most valuable commodities, can also be one of its most dangerous. Simply pour out several canisters, slide in a programming transponder, and step well away while the stuff cooks. In under an hour the nano will use available materials to assemble a small factory, a hovertank, or enough rifles to equip a regiment.
— Col. Corazon Santiago, "Planet: A Survivalist's Guide" (Accompanies completion of the Secret Project "The Nano Factory")
Holy shit. Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri made Nanopaste.

And the in-game MMI quite likely directly references the SMAC quote.

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.

Sitting alone in a station, with nothing to do but changing canisters and eating donk pockets. It's kinda relaxing really.

I accidentally read that as "dong pockets". Is this considered bad?
