Use of spoiler tags is pretty pointless unless the spoiler title explains what is being spoiler'd, which nobody does. e.g.,

I agree with magma not being a meme, but the use of it to solve all problems is.
Doesn't happen, not since after the Necroblitzkrieg.

I agree with butchering kittens not being a meme, but the obsession with kittens as opposed to, say, alpacas is.
The internet is obsessed with kittens. Period.

I dare you to search kittens on any search engine. Abandon all hope.

I agree with brutality not being a meme, but the extremeness of it in the DF community is.
It is a part of the game. Even then - it is generally frowned upon when it is senseless. When it produces Beowulf sagas, this Homeric level of detail is again, nothing unique nor a meme, and actually productive in generating community content.

I agree with stone mugs not being memes, but their still being used as examples is. Plump helmets aren't, no.
Stone mugs are still good trade goods.

The term "science" is definitely a meme when it's on fire. By itself, it's not, but ‼science‼ definitely is.
‼Science‼ is deadly science. This one... Is a DF meme as much as it is a euphemism.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLwut. Within the internet's contexts, using standards which apply to commonly held memes, such as specific acts of violence being distinct from it's entirety, they are memes. However, i welcome new ones.

If they aren't memes, they're certainly running jokes. And on the internet, those two things are conflated.

If you judged the upper forums by what you read from the lower boards you'd imagine legions of escaped lunatics slaughtering kittens with magma poured from mugs to determine the terminal velocity of skulls when they impact on SPAM.

There's a general divide when it comes to the upper boards and lower boards. By now, to me they seem rather distinct and different. People just get annoyed when there's an overlap, and someone acts different from the norm on either boards. My only issue with the lower boards is that they never make any new content, as previous posters have pointed out it's the same stuff over and over again. Whenever I go on the lower boards, I feel as if I'm reading a topic I've already read a countless amount of times over again.

This. Another thing that I'm curious about is how topics are always discussed, but with the big ones, i never hear about anyone acting on it or doing much in the way of inquiring as to how to do so.

That has less to do with the forums in particular than how people are in general. It's easy to discuss things, a lot harder to actually do them.

Sorry for the confusion, Loud Whispers; I was talking about Internet memes, rather than genuine memes. Which are similar to running jokes. Or, at least, that's what I know. To avoid derail, my list was of things I perceive to be potentially annoying running jokes on the DF boards.

I agree, though i think we are partially able of doing or are doing something, and there is a will for it here.

Jackrabbit said some very memetic things. Some existed as both memes and Internet memes for a time.

Here's the Advice Dwarf thread I mentioned. Image macros are often used interchangeably with the term "meme", however incorrect this may be, so this should have some amusement to it. For example,
Better than other memes =E
