Welcome!

This is going to be a blind playthrough of Pokemon SoulSilver via a DS emulator. This game has been randomized by the Universal Randomizer to be extremely random.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
It has, for all intents and purposes, effectively become a rouguelike. Your wikis are useless here.

furthermore this is a Nuzlocke run. I can only catch one pokemon per route, which must be the first encounter. If it sucks, too bad. If it faints, too bad, I missed my chance.
If my pokemon faint, it's dead, and I can never use it again and must stick it in a PC box for storing the "dead" or releasing it completely. If my entire team is wiped out then I too "die" and the entire game shall be deleted, losing everything in the "world" the randomizer generated.

While I have played the original gameboy pokemon silver, I haven't gotten too far in SoulSilver and am unfamiliar with all the twists and item locations and stuff. I have practically no knowledge of what awaits me in the genned game file.

Also, this is my first text-based LP and first serious LP ever. Much !!fun!! will be had, and I'll probably die from a flying magikarp with hyper beam.

Chapter the First:Thank Arceus the Kids are Willing to Do It

This world is a crazy place. Let me set the scene for you, reader: Small towns of limited population separated by expanses of savage wild creatures we know next to nothing about. People have been known to die out there in the wilds.

The only protection we have comes from trainers, brave souls willing to go out and capture these crazy-magical beasts and attempt to tame them and use them to combat the wild ones. It's a dangerous job, with a 97.5% mortality rate.

Thankfully there's a bunch of kids willing to sign up for it. That's where I come in.

I arrive at the local Professor's lab for my initiation ceremony and receiving my first creature, which we commonly call pokemon. I'd imagine the guy went to a bunch of trouble to find even three for me to choose from, so I'll take what I can get it.

The guy asks me some standard questions, such as my name and gender and if I'm willing to dedicate my life to the service of the High Agency of Protecting the Peasantry against the Dark Arts and/or Beasts, or HAoPtPatDaaoB for short.

After a quick check of my pants I can confirm I am indeed a guy...

But I can't recall my name. Dude, what's my name?

Randomized legendaries? I guess it doesn't matter too much if the stats are randomized too... but I'll laugh if Lugia gets replaced with a level 45 Ratatta.  :o

Yeah, the primary goal was so that the egg you get from Mr Pokemon was also random. By randomizing the static legendaries you also randomize gift pokemon, such as those you get from in-game NPC trading and events such as arcades and stuff. I assume the mystery egg is also such a pokemon, and so it adds to the suspense.

The stats aren't completely random, but they are shifted around. Special attack values could be swapped with attack values, defense could get switched with speed, etc. You could get a Kadabra skilled with physical attacks and terrible special attacks and typed Fire/Fighting, hypothetically.

I vote that you name your character "What?" just because it makes the dialogue fairly humorous.
Second choice, since you mentioned it, would be "Dude", again, for the funny dialogue.

Name: GTFO.

Also for the dialog hilarity.  And good luck with the run. 8)

Chapter the First continued...part 2

"Oh, my name? Now I remember, yeah, it's Gerald Tyrannus Freckle-Odd the Third. It's a family name. Everyone calls me GTFO for short."

After giving the secret initiation handshake and signing several legal forms in my blood to officially be recognized as a Trainer in Training, the Professor went over the ground rules of being in the Agency.

Spoiler: The Rules (click to show/hide)

Simple enough rules. Ah, my future as a 10 year old Pokemon Trainer looks bright indeed.

the Prof had something else to say; he wanted me to let my tamed pokemons walk with me outside of their pokeballs, supposedly to prove for him that such acts build trust amongst a trainer and his pokemon, and make for a more effectively tamed war-animal. I'm not sure what to say about that idea. On one hand, my starting partner will be on hand to quickly defend my adolescent ass. On the other hand, these things could eat my face at any time.
Judging by the look on his face, Elm wouldn't take no for an answer.

As a final request, Elm implored me to walk down to his friend--Mr "Pokemon's"--house...in the depths of the wilderness. Apparently this friend of his lives out there, studying the wild things in their natural habit, and recently he made a "discovery" that he's ranting about more than the usual mad findings. This Mr Pokemon guy sounds like a regular nutter.

Once again, Elm's face implied he'd take no "no" for an answer. Ah well. Anything to be a Trainer, I guess. Such danger is natural for this profession. All the same, I'm starting to get second thoughts....

But then Elm made a sweeping gesture toward the three pokeballs he had out waiting for me.

"Pick the one you like! By making your choice you will officially be knighted a Trainer in Training in the HAoPtPatDaaoB!"

I regret nothing. Without further prompting I lunged for the balls to see what secrets they held inside.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

What strange creatures these pokemon are. I wonder which I should pick?

Did you know you have a half-brother named Harold Tyrannus Freckle-Uneven the Fifth, (HTFU5)?

Also, bloody hell, two ghosts and a steel, with no possiblity of research to find out which is gonna be the best to lead with................Blindly, I'd say go the Steel.

Edit: No obligation, but name whatever choose - Jesus.  At the beginning of combat you will get asked the age-old philosophical question - "What will Jesus do?"

I also vote for Pichu, just cause it's one of the few electric ghost rodents I like.

I also second the vote for the name Jesus, cause I think it's funny that it'll ask you WWJD. Kinda wish I would have thought of that myself.
