inEQUALITY: Great, you're in!
MaximumZero: I'll bump you down to second, then.  Glloyd is now up.
professorlamp: Depends.  Do you want to be playing a key part in the song or just providing light accompaniment during a specific section?  As long as you think it sounds good and you're not stepping on someone else's toes, it's good.  Also, the first player isn't necessarily writing the song, they're just playing first, whether that means simply setting the tempo and key, providing a beat or riff, or yes, structuring/writing it.

I think you missed my post. Is Euphonium/Synth alright for joining?

Haha, so it appears that I'm starting this then? K, would you like me just to lay down some sort of starting rhythm? And what are your thoughts regarding length?

You can play whatever you want as long as it makes enough sense for the next person to play along.  As to length, keep it reasonable and on the short end - don't go over three minutes or under one minute or so should be a good rule of thumb.  Same thing with time signatures and tempos - nothing in 1138/256 at 9001 bps, obviously.

And for the love of all that is holy, please try to keep it in a decent key. I'm passable, but I once we get into wonky key signatures, I have no clue what I'm even doing.  :P

Ok, so it's settled: the song will be at 679bpm in Bb, 7/8 timing and using the 3rd mode of the harmonic major scale. Should be a good'un!

I have no idea what any of that means. Therefore, I'll just mash on my guitar and call it good. Yaay!

That's about five and a half times the tempo of 'Stars and Stripes forever', a time signature that has one less eighth note than usual, and using only the notes in the Phrygian mode of the B flat scale.

In other words, some crazy shit. Can't do that on my Euphonium very well, but I'll try to synth something up.

I'll hop in on this. I've been wanting to put my new recording setup to the test with some actual musaks recording.

Instrument: Acoustic Guitar (You can NEVER have too many guitars! I hope Trombone guy participates though, every song can use some brass)
Experience: Mid-tier beginner (I can play a few songs all the way through, I know a few scales)
Recording: Hardware is this nice new condenser mic I dropped too much money on, and software is Audacity. Up for better suggestions, though.

Would be nice if the OP contained an instrument list, btw.

I can do it

Instrument: Electric guitar
Roles: Rhythm, some of less complex lead, ambient noises
Experience: Intermediate+
Recording: Been there done that, can mix decently and been trying at mastering a bit. Got Shure SM57, i record guitars with DI though because i need to buy a new interface.

I can also program drums, i have a wide collection of samples.
I can also do growling vocals and random noises.

You forgot the key changes every 2 bars, melodic instruments play in 7/8 time signature while drums play in 4/4 for the polyrhythms, with some 15/16 thrown in for lulz, and the cycle repeating itself. Shit ton of chromatic notes for totally avant-garde nonsense. (You need to know the key so you know which notes you shouldnt play and you play them on purpose  ;) )

Ok, I guess we can have multiple guitars, since it seems everybody plays that anyway.  Sure, you're both in.
I'll add instruments to the OP.  Keep meaning to, don't know why I haven't.

Down. Starting right now.

Hahaha, k, I'll do something in the key of C or G, 4/4 timing then to be inclusive. I'll start tonight or tomorrow, so expect something soon! (BUT I'M KEEPING THE 679bpm! :P)

Sweet!! Looking forward to seeing how this comes along.

By the way, if my turn comes along this weekend somehow, however unlikely that is, put me lower on the turn order or whatever; I have a big tournament and the possibility of some stressing - though potentially positive - personal developments.  :P
