Ah so nations aren't allowed to dictate terms to each other but Greece should accept the terms of an agreement it was not part of.  Yeah those Greeks dont have a leg to stand on.  A Greek law having jurisdiction in Greece would be as absurd as a German agreement not having jurisdiction in Greece.

They accepted the thing though, they can't complain and go back on that. The final settlement of the reparations issue was to be included in the eventual peace treaty, which is the 2+4 agreement. Since no additional settlements are demanded there, the whole issue is moot.

Yes they can and their actions are smack dab in the fucking middle of international norms.

Since no additional settlements are demanded there, the whole issue is moot.

You are pulling a principle out of your ass without the slightest precedent.  And yes there was, a settlement demanded!  The thing you are deriding!

The cognative dissonance with Greece never ceases to amaze me.  They simulataneously get criticized for doing something and not doing something.

Not to mention that doing it during their current economic situation makes it look like they're being a bit greedy, or begging for handouts/bailouts or in polandballform 'PLS GIB MONEY PLS GIB MONEY GIB MONEY GIB MONEY GIB BAILOUT'

Ah yes, the age old legal principle that greedy people should be treated differently.

Berlucsoni is like the US's late Ted Kennedy (or perhaps Chris Christie).  No matter how much dirty laundry, his electorate kept right on voting for him.

People are the same the world over it seems.

The difference here is that Berlusconi controls a large part of Italian national media.

So it's like if Fox Guy (Murdoch?) kept getting reelected in the US.

Isn't the main thing about Ted Kennedy the Chappaquiddick incident? If your opponents keep bringing up one thing that happened back in 1968 constantly I don't think that's a matter of "no matter how much dirty laundry". Car accidents are hardly rare. Apparently he was fond of women when he was younger. Though I don't think that is actually a breach of your public office really. Are there any actual corruption scandals involving Ted Kennedy's misuse of his office?

It's a meme thing like Biden being gaffe prone because he does something once every few years or GWB being an idiot because he mispronounced something every once in a while, often on purpose.

Only a man of GWB's calculating intellect could intentionally mispronounce something to put his enemies on the wrong foot. His grasp of linguistics vis-a-vis global politics is unmatched.

I long for the day when public officials don't need to lie about their glue sniffing pasts. We should be more accepting than this.

Weird, I thought only impoverished schoolchildren in Russia and other post-Soviet countries in the 1990s snuffed glue to get high.
