Northern Ireland holds one of the most important communities of Scottish diaspora, a community DwarfyOne identifies as being a part of through his Ulster Scottishness. As a nation Scotland is closer in heritage and history to Northern Ireland than any other place, dating right back to ancient times when Gaels settled on both sides of the Irish sea and the word "Irish" was just a word non-Gaels called them both. I personally love Northern Ireland and I think it's a beautiful place, and I like TheDwarfyOne for his intelligence and strong morals. We only argue because these are issues that must be discussed.

Eh, there has been numerous incidents when shells launched from Ukraine hit Russian territory over the past weeks, with Russian border guards and civilians being hit. Russia has always responded with strongly-worded letters expressing its concern at such developments.

Very late edit: meanwhile, according to rebel sources citing Igor Strelkov, about 70 (!) Ukrainian tanks have assaulted the rebel positions at the town of Metallist on the outskirts of Lugansk. Pro-Russian forces, armed with RPGs and old Soviet anti-tank artillery, have reportedly thwarted the Ukrainian attack. Also, there are reports that Ukrainian artillery have shelled residential areas of Lugansk.
DNR's official Twitter account claims that Ukrainian forces now have 4 AH-64 Apache helicopters that were reportedly sent by the USA. No proof is provided.

Ukrainian official sources have denied responsibility for the earlier artillery strike on the Russian town of Donetsk and claim that recent shellings of residential areas in Ukrainian Donetsk and Lugansk were committed by the rebels themselves.

At least if she became a leader of the European Council she would be a recognisable face to people, unlike Van Rompuy. We really need a democratically elected leadership of Europe though if we're going to have any kind of serious integration, and for it to be in any way relevant to people in the UK.
