Also, we need stuff that rots for the filth pit, right?

Why not the leaves on the trees? We aren't using them.

Yeah, we can use whatever that rots excluding human/yolc/goblin waste. So we can send the shaman to gather leaves or something like that.

I think the shaman will know what's best for his pit ;) Just let him gather what he wants.

+1

Just tell him to gather appropriate materials.

But not from our citizens, our guests, our domestic animals, or anything with a good chance of eviscerating or trampling the gatherer if the shaman doesn't want to get it himself.

Well, as it seems that Lincoln is occupied drawing the ash forest (or more probably having a life), I will try to synthetize all the suggestions that were supported by some people and haven't been criticised, so he finds everything easier to do.

Talking stuff:
-Ask the trappers if they know the location of the ash forest and the ancient ashen tree.

Crafting:
-Carpenter makes ladder.
-An unspecialized human makes baskets.
-Carpenter makes table (when she finishes the ladder)
-IF she finishes, make the hatset/hats arrying device

Building:
-Our Avatar makes a Forge

General tasks:
-The woodworkers go to fell the ashen tree with the Fellaxe
-Jaymi and the usual hunters go out to look for food.
-The Yolc goes to gather water in the barrel.
-The Goblin Shaman and her assistant keep gathering stuff that rots (consider leaves for this task, and don't put anything in danger while doing so)
-The miner tries to keep mining in the same tunnel, or, if she can't see, make her start a new one.
-Idlers star to build a palisade/fence around the camp.

I hope this helps...

Maybe we could make torches?

Or a skylight?

Torches require tar or somehing that burns for a long time.
If we can make a skylight, it would be better, but I don't think that it is possible.

I don't think the miner should start a new tunnel. Better let her scout for some tar for torches.
Or we ask Fellhawk for a magic light source (a bone torch with magical green flames ^.^).

It couldn't hurt to let the miner do something else for a while than just mining all the time^^

Just dig a deep pit over the tunnel!

Once we have ventilation shafts we will need a fire to provide air circulation, but until that day, fire+enclosed space=can't breath.
