And no one starts with age modifiers.
You do if you're old enough.

There is literally not a "rules legal" start in the game at level one that starts you old enough.

Incoming splatbook that only had like a single 100 book print run in 3-2-1

But at the very least, not rules legal in the rules we are using.

RAW: "You can choose or randomly generate your character's age"

Fair enough. I sorta took it as to mean "Between the natural starting ages"

But even if that is the case, which it could possibly not be. That would only be RAI. And not the all mighty RAW.

Yeah, RAI is an elusive bastard. Either way, I'm starting old. I can afford losing those points in Str and Dex.

Base abilities: 9, 13, 15, 16, 8, 12

With Old Dorf modifiers that should be 6, 10, 14, 18, 10, 14

I meant the random age roll.
Also, I'm an elf, who is questing through the dwarven caverns.

Semi-complete. Still lacks an inventory.

Would it be ok if I made a half-elf instead of a dwarf for this

It doesn't say it requires a dwarf, and I already made an elf.
So... possibly?

I forgot this is why we can't have nice things, like organized play.  "Dwarf party, eh?  Is it fine if I'm an elf then?"  In that case 'whatever' we're not good at following rules so let's just not be outrageous...

I do have a backstory as to how an elf ended up in the dwarven lands.
