I'm just going to say I abhor political correctness and think people need to get off their collective high horses about language and leave it at that, as I have gotten in trouble with toady for this line of debate before and don't intend to do so again.

I think the only important lesson you can take from the concept of political correctness is that your words can have an impact you're responsible for other than the intent you had, so you can understand why it's good to apologize when you offend somebody unintentionally, because that is what people do when they make mistakes. Of course there are exceptions for weird corner cases that people like to bring up when they argue that they're not responsible for things, but those are niche examples and not the general case.

political correctness is dumb as fuck but your case is one of the rare ones to which i adhere mostly because the people who are the "proper" demographic this term covers are already fucked over by life and don't really need to be kicked further

Language=Ideas
If a person misinterprets an idea I present, and is offended by their faulty perception, I will do my best to correct them, and apologize for misconstruing it.

However, if they are simply offended by the ideas I set forth then I will make no apologies for them not liking what I think, I am under no oath to appeal to their desires or worldview. I have my own, and I will stride ever forward in support of it.

I don't know...remember, Bush II headlined the "compassionate conservatism" movement back in 2000, before shit went down and he ended up a war president. I don't think another Bush would necessarily be any worse on foreign policy than any other warhawk, and the GOP has a lot of those- I mean, really, do any of us think Rubio would be any better?

They could just go with some white male that nobody's heard of, like Dick Cheney.  It's not like he was a great speaker or a huge boon to the ticket, he was just a safe bet.  The candidates are generally pretty shy of picking a VP who is a liability.

My bets are they pick some unheard of latino/hispanic republican for VP so they can try to improve their standing with hispanic/latinos and collect the whole 2 votes that's going to swing, I mean, it didn't work with the Palin attempt to collect female votes, but I'm not sure these guys have learned yet.
