Unless they enchanted the needle, or the needle does about as much damage as a longsword, my DR 6/magic will protect me should my AC fail.

A) It's poisoned (to be fair, your character doesn't know that, but there's a thing called common sense)
B) AC doesn't matter if the fucking thing can't even  reach you

A. It's presumably injected poison, not contact poison, which means it needs to pierce DR to affect me.
B. I was tired of seeing you argue about how to cleverly get around it and chose to cut the knot.

I was preoccupied at the time. Also, Most DR is from instantly healing the wound, not just blocking things from getting through.
