You attempt to leave the clearing, but upon wandering the bronze woods for a bit you emerge into the same clearing.

Hiki has awoken, and is listening intently, upon hearing your entrance into the glade, he tenses. He has his cane out, and his knuckles are white from girpping it so hard. There's a small gash on his head where your rock hit, and you are suddenly very glad that this dream Hiki is unlikely to get a concussion, or at least die from it.

You try to step towards him, but he tenses like a fox caught in headlights. It breaks your heart to see him so... afraid of you.

You don't know why but it feels like you've broken some measure of trust with him, and since he's technically a figment of your imagination, your own trust in yourself. It hurts.

"Why?" he asks.
