All Oric is willing to do is to take Ciro's toys.
While Oric pulls the most strings Ciro still has it's role in this machine. Ciro is needed and as such it has some power. Not a much power but forgoing it's exploting it would be a mistake. Taunting Oric should be done in the future, getting under his skin will hopefully distract him from whatever Ciro will try to pull.

I'm making way too many posts, but I just realized something else: Oric disabled the music, somehow. We're not flooded, and the counter hasn't been going down.

That, or the flooding is below us and the countdown doesn't show up inside buildings.

Finally, I'd like to suggest another action: Quickly kill Goombess and swipe the essence so he can't do his unfair magic trick.

also it's not like we didn't just drop a line in oric's face this is where we initiate tactical rap battle more than anything

I don't see a win condition here unless we can pull something to beat Oric.  If we listen to him, we lose Riltia, and the support of our friends.  If we fight, it might go badly.  Since FFS has been hinting that he's been keeping track of what Riltia and Oric have been up to, this wasn't a random encounter.  If this was D&D, Id accuse the GM of railroading.  Our best hope is that Oric spent too much energy on that attack and is bluffing.  Or that dying here won't ruin Ciro as the beginning.  Especially since FFS said there was still a bunch of story to go.  I know he's been bloodthirsty as evidence by above update, but the question is, would he end the story and lose his continued supply of fan tears?  Since I don't have any other brilliant ideas, my current guess would be to have Ciro enter a diplomacy battle and everyone else run.  Also, if the effect is what I think it is, opening that door would trigger a flood.  But those are my best guesses.
