The more I stare at realistic Ciro, the less jarring and more cooler she looks.

Yeah, she grows on you. Like a tumor. Realistic Betweenford still isn't doing anything for me, but the art style could be interesting in another game.

Yeah, back when FFS first posted that I didn't dislike the style. It is good. I just prefer the more stylistic art for the Warrens. Kind of for the same reason I prefer Earthbound's cartoony look. It makes this interesting contrast that makes the art help tell the story and convey emotion.

Like when Riltia and Yaos transformed, their changes were legitimately disturbing due to the drastic contrast.

It would put us on equal footing with or at an advantage against overleveled but normally weak foes. Such as human-likes or Hellyfish. However, against stuff like that robot thing on DL4, it would put us at a sever disadvantage, I think.
We will need to try the CHUNKY REALISM mode at least once.

I'm sure there would be some attempted balancing involved.

In the context of THIS game, of TWoOtA? Not much at all. He did kidnap a teammate of ours and then give sage advise, and he could teach us to engage the Chunky Realism battle mode, but other than that, he doesn't play much of a role here.

In the context of Homestuck, he plays much the same role FFS does here, but even more involved. He's the Self-Inserting Creator where FFS is the Lying Creator.

How?

Presumably the same way Goombess was able to "research" the location of a River Dollar on a floor that seems to have been recently randomized, or the way she was able to figure out the mechanics of Proxxy's abilities just by observing her while we Tactical Diplomacied. She could well deduce the mechanics of our own skills by studying us.
