 Looking at it again, I think E2 says 'Al and (illegible)'. Random events? It may be Ali, but it isn't 'all'- 'all and ___' doesn't make sense, you can't have all and more.

  My original thought had been that the 'E' had stood for elements, but the text that is legible throws that idea out to dry.

OK, we really need to figure out how to UPGRADE skills through the skill tree. It only accepts crafting components...

OK, so we need to find a set of components that we already know what they do. Such as the ones for that ice flurry spell.
Then we find one component of the same element of one, but of a higher level.
Then we try using the higher grade component with the other components.

Or we try putting in a component which we know is of the same element as one used to make skill X, and then try inserting skill X, see if it will let us now.

I think it's impossible to encounter Willborn Cain in-game. In any scenario where I imagine you could fight Cain, the very concept of Willborn would cease to exist. You would have to do some serious sequence breaking. It would invalidate most, if not all, of the paths I've guessed the game could take.
